The Bard's Tale Trilogy

This was my 'original' RPG. Sure, I played Akalabeth, Ultima 1, and other RPGs during this time, but this was the one that provided me the most enjoyment. I'm now about half way through BT1 again in the remastered, and I have to say, I love the remaster. Is it without issue? No, it's still technically in 'beta', and they're fixing things rapidly, so I won't lower my rating. Does it hold up to the original, and my memories? Absolutely! I never in my dreams thought I'd be able to play this game again in any other way than with emulators. I would say my largest issue is that the easier scaling makes things just a little too easy (in some ways), but I also won't lower my rating for this, as I'll wait for the 'legacy' mode to be released, and then I'll set the things back to scale. Thanks for this Krome, and inXile!

I've played a lot of 80s/90s remastered games and most are pretty much ...meh... because new features have been added which can't be removed (yes looking at you BeamDog - don't like what you did to Baldur's Gate and othe other BioWare RPGs from the era). This remaster though DOES add some new stuff as optionals and defaults to the original game. Of course, I'll be reliving the original (ramastered) game and will be enjoying it once again! Can't wait for the other 2 remastred to be released either.

Great to be playing BT1 again, with better graphics. Love that there is an auto-mapping option implemented (saves me having to map to paper, though mapping to paper was part of the thrill of the original.) Keeps me occupied on end. Waiting for release of BT2 and BT3 ... once they are available, will give it 5 stars.

I love it, I love it, I love it! Now Thief of Fate is released with some other Fixes and Enhancements. Krome and eXile did an excellent Job! All classic CRPG-Players who played the Wizardy-, Ultima-, Might & Magic-, EoB-Series and all other Dungeon Masters, who liked or loved these Games, should play this iconic game! It is the real Godfather of the modern CRPG! Now I wait for a German translation and an implemantation of Dragon Wars as a part in this Trilogy. Maybe as a Spin-off?

All the original soul of the triolgy is intact with several nice touches and modern conviences and graphic updates that suit it very well. And The Destiny Knight is still ridiculously hard but least re-loading is a snap.
