Not all it's cracked up to be
I was honestly looking forward to finally playing this game. I'd heard about it's great humor and fun combat, and I was sorely disappointed. Maybe 4 hours in and I already regret the time and money I've spent. The humor is almost exclusively the lowest common denominator -- it's all cheap weak and I think I chuckled maybe twice, just a little. On top of that, the gameplay is basic and not very engaging, while the boss fights so far have been awful. First there's the profoundly annoying bugbear, then you get the trow/goblin boss in the park -- the one who you can't attack in melee, your ranged minion will never target, and who always summons help much faster than you can. After almost ten minutes of fighting him and barely making any headway, I realized that this game bites and uninstalled it. Save your time, you're probably better off getting Bard's Tale 4 -- it's look much better than this. Oh, and also the songs are mostly just annoying and you will get *sick to death* of killing hundreds of trow, especially in the aforementioned park.

FEAR THE TROW
what a great game very funny in places if you like monty python then this game is for you the only bug i have found in this game is when trying to free dolyn from behind an ice wall the fire elemental is supposed to melt the ice but for some strange reason it did not work but i have a work round go as close to the ice wall as you can then summon herne the boss from the first tower who you defeated and he should smash the ice wall well thats what worked for me but with any luck inXile entertainment will release the bard's tale remastered and resnarkled that they released on steam and from what i have read online they said that they would also release the new updated version on gog.com so come on inXile release the new version on gog.com so the fans of the bard's tale on here can also enjoy the new updated version that steam owners are enjoying

Ignore the name, enjoy the game
There's really only three relevant questions about this game. (1) Is it a Bard's Tale game? No, not in any meaningful sense. It's a click-to-kill action RPG in the vein of Diablo, with more story progression and less loot grind. (2) Is it funny? Yes, mostly - it frequently made me chuckle, and you probably will too, although even the fairly generous amount of narration isn't quite enough to sustain the game's run time. (3) Is it fun? Yes, mostly. I doubt it's anyone's favourite game, but It got my money's worth and enjoyed my time with it, and if a humorous click-to-kill RPG sounds at all interesting to you, then you probably will too.

A RPG that is more funny than an RPG.
The Bard's Tale is a great comedy but a bad RPG. This game is like RPG lite. Usual staples of rpgs like inventory, companions, and quests are all simplified. Their is not inventory system as you have only one item for each section. When ever you pick up a stronger item the weaker one is automatically sold. Not that much side quest and the ones they have are simple and straightforward. The companions are all summons so they can't permanently die. The saving grace of this game is the characters and writing. The story is the only good thing in the game. You will find yourself wanting to see the bard succeed because he is such a likeable character. For the price I recommend this game for people that want a funny game.
