An elite team of specialists have created something unspeakable. Now each of them are marked for death, and so begins the reign of the Overseer.
Experience Mean Streets once again, with a deeper plot and superior quality
Great acting, challenging puzzles, romance, suspense and witty humor
A must-have for anyone who likes adventure games and a good mystery
Visually the most advanced. The interface is the best of the series but lacks the depth of laconic humor that is Tex's trademark. The puzzles tend to have too similar a design to them but still a solid game.
"Mean Streets" was a good sci-fi mystery saddled by strange design choices that made it a chore to play. Almost 10 years later, the Tex Murphy team remade it as “Overseer”, giving it the same high-quality treatment as "Under a Killing Moon" and "Pandora Directive", with 1st person sleuthing and live actors in the cutscenes and suspect interviews. Scenes are usually well-staged. There are actually a couple new plot twists that make things rather different from "Mean Streets".
And of course, the gaming has been overhauled, and it's quite good. Puzzles include some of the cleverest you'll find. A couple of the mini-game puzzles will annoy you, but most of them are fun & not as irritating as the ones "Pandora Directive" stuck in there. The 1st person interface, not as fluid as a FPS, doesn't work so well for the action-oriented puzzles and life-or-death situations.
In best adventure game tradition, there's plenty to click on, resulting in comments from Tex that are loaded with humor. This game has plenty of atmosphere & character.
No mystery about it—this version’s worth getting.
A game with a story so good it should have been a movie script! Fantastic game, although the graphics, naturally, are a bit dated. They just don't make games like this anymore...
I need to say first and foremost that I absolutely love the tex murphy series. I thourughly enjoyed under a killing moon and pandora directive, and was very excited to see that overseer was on offer on this site. I have played the game some time ago, but never actually finished it in full, though a friend of mine showed me the ending (no spoliers !)
What a fantastic adventure once again, your following a gripping plotline full of twists, turns, conflict, romance and some serious danger. From meeting a sexy client, to fighting hitmen, playing chess with a madman, exploring ancient ruins, solving mind bending puzzles, escaping a radiation chamber, invading government buildings, all while reliving and retelling a tale full of excitement and intrigue. Another great installment of this fantastic series ! Dont miss it !
I was massively into interactive movie/adventure games back in the 90's when they were big and Tex Murphy: Overseer is probably my very favourite. Every Tex Murphy game is a classic that should be played by all adventure fans, but Overseer is a masterpiece of the genre. It brings all the elements that made the series great and polishes them to perfection.
If you have absolutely any interest in the adventure game genre then this is a must play. You will not regret getting this gem.
And of course it's a must download for all you old school Tex fans too. I've still got this on disc but I bought it so I don't have to disc swap!
Awesome. Thank you GOG!
