Technobabylon has an excellent main story and contains many funny and interesting bits of non-essential information that help to set the mood - you really feel like you are playing in a real world. It is not too hard, and the problems are mostly logical. They are also quite varied.
Technically it is simple but still nice. A caveat - if you prefer to play full screen, find your install folder and use winsetup as there is no ingame option to switch between modes.
One of the most interesting and entertaining of the adventure 'point and click' genre. However, after paying good money for the download, gameplay seemed about as long as your typical demo. It left me feeling a bit ripped off, as it was so short. Puzzles were some of the best ever designed for this type of platform, thought, I must admit. Hopefully there will be a longer sequel someday.
An adventure with classic point-and-click mechanics and much comfort - a quick start, autosave and automatic reset when dying. No dead ends and no pixel hunting. Just one downside: for the inventory you have go to one bottom corner instead of anywhere at the bottom which would be easier.
The graphics are very nice and the voice acting is great. The characters are likeable and interesting. And the puzzles are interesting too, mostly logical, and not too hard, although sometimes you do something because it is possible, not knowing why you do it because you meet the puzzle elements before the connecting actions or dialogues that give meaning.
Why just three stars nevertheless?
Technobabble: the games throws around with this really a lot. It makes the story hard to follow and the conversations tiresome, and it makes some puzzles confusing: I got the dialog, but I did not know what it meant for the puzzle, what to do practically, or for what end. I figured it out and overall it never gets over the top so I would have stuck, but it spoiled much of the fun.
Conversations: they might be written not badly, but I found them mostly boring. The characters also repeat some topics just in other words. So I clicked through, because you have to for a) following the story, b) getting hints for puzzles and c) in some cases the story to go on.
Also, I think the story is basically great but a bit overloaded, I followed but I did not get either the details or a clear general view because there was so much and so many characters and factions.
Wow. That's an amazing game. It has a great story and very good characters and some characters are queer which made me really happy!!!! It's part of who they are but not the only aspect of the character.
The look reminds me of old-school point and click. That's not everyones cup of tea, but I love it. The gameplay is very easy, rightclick to look and left to interact.
The voice actors are talented, but not everything is voiced. So you have to read, not much though.
The puzzels are very logical, it's not try and error or moon logic. I had to consult a walkthrough only twice and that's pretty good. I also never got stuck because I didn't pick up an item or used it in the wrong way. It took me 13 h to complete it which is longer than I expected.
It has two endings which are both very cool....
All in all a very enjoyable experience!
This game is pleasant, from the ease of the point and click interface, simple inventory management, music and puzzles its all good fun. The pixel art is okay, ranging from lush to barely able to tell what the object is. Some weird pathfinding when attempting some actions but never any hang ups.
The atmosphere is its biggest draw, reminiscent of Blade Runner at times. The pop culture fun to explore, the technology and all that jazz. It makes a refreshing change for an adventure game. The characters are fully fleshed out and interesting, the voice acting pretty good although the male leads voice was irritating thru no fault of his own. The music was appropriate, not spectacular or anything, you are able to adjust it to your liking. There is gore, which I adored. There is humor and hip ideas aplenty.
The puzzles were generally easy though with some stumpers thrown in, usually it was just click on your inventory and apply to all the hotspots on the page like every other point and click adventure game out there. There were some nice surprises tho and none felt tacked on to extend game time, they all made sense for the action of the game.
All in all I enjoyed it, there are no irritations of game play such as inventory clogging useless items, wonky UI, not much back tracking, plenty of autosaves or manual saves. It even plops you immediately right back into action after death to attempt again.
It gives you what you want, entertainment with no irritations.
