Plunge into the depths of STASIS: BONE TOTEM, the latest installment in the STASIS anthology.
A new story, new characters, and a new underwater environment to explore.
Follow Mac and Charlie, a husband and wife duo, who make their living scouring the ocean for salvage. But, when they stumble upon an abandoned oil rig in the Pacific Ocean, they uncover a horrific secret that Cayne Corporation will do anything to keep hidden.
As you embark on your adventure playing Mac, Charlie, and their trusty Super-Toy, Moses, you'll encounter an immersive narrative filled with spine-tingling horror and unexpected twists. Combining the thrilling storytelling of STASIS and a tense underwater setting, STASIS: BONE TOTEM offers a personal story that will test the limits of family resilience.
Navigate through a massive underwater base, complete intricate puzzles, and solve an ancient secret concealed at the bottom of the ocean. With stunning visuals, a music score by Mark Morgan, a screenplay written by a Hollywood ace, voice acting by veteran actors, and a gripping storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat - STASIS: BONE TOTEM is a must-play game for horror and sci-fi adventure fans.
So what are you waiting for? Dive into the unknown and uncover the BONE TOTEM beneath the waves.
I usually don't play these types of games but I saw it had glowing reviews and decided to try it as a brake from my regular pace.
I didn't expect much, even with the great reviews. By the end, I was simply amazed at how well crafted the whole experience was.
The story is captivating and the worldbuilding/lore of this game is very fascinating to me.
The characters are memorable and well-written and the voice acting is really good. The art style, soundtrack and consequently the atmosphere, are top notch.
I won't say much else because it must be experienced.
I think this game might become a cult classic at some point.
For me it already is.
The puzzles become obnoxious quick. Most are obvious, but others are impossible without googling. Few things are as frustrating as the thought process of the devs. I almost asked for a refund after finding out the code to a computer is on the corner of a random note with the last number missing.
The entire feeling the games gives can be condensed in a single phrase: "You don't want to be here" - it is great. I can only repeat the other reviews so far visuals and soundtrack are brilliant.
However be warned if gore is not to your taste then you may reconsider. Let me put it into numbers:
Visuals: 5.0 out of 5
Sountrack: 5.0 out of 5
Ambientsound: 4.0 out of 5
Gameplay: 5.0 out of 5
Remeber these impressions are very subjectiv.
Gameplay:
The UI has been reworked a lot compered to the first Stasis. It is very simplistic jet functional.
The banter between the charachters and comments on items provides usefull insight and serves as
a guideline and atmosphere feature. The riddels 90% of the time vary between simple and avarage (remember subjectiv). There are some hard ones but they are rare and still managable but require some thinking outside of the box.
Stasis: Bone Totem is a very good point and click adventure game. Excellent voice acting, believable characters and great atmosphere. However, I felt it was lacking in the final chapters. Everything felt crammed in and rushed, and there were so many new story elements introduced it was kind of overwhelming. On top of this, the final cinematic is very short, and if you wait until after the credits, a highly unlikely thing happens (obviously for the bleeding heart gamer) that as the Numen would say, has a "0% probability of actually happening." All I'll say is bottom of the ocean, deep inside a submarine, under a collapsed cave network. Far fetched for sure.
The overall experience of the game though is so good I would still recommend it to any fan of their previous games, or adventure game/horror fans in general. I wasn't a big fan of the green description circles everywhere (the writing was like someone used a thesaurus for every descriptive word), but I don't know how they could have done it better since the game was quite dark and hard to see a lot of the artistic detail. Despite my issues with the game though, it is very well done and I hope they make something else and continue to improve on their storytelling and gameplay.
A fantastic game, full of atmosphere. Music, graphic and the setting, as well as the story is really, really well thought through.
If you are the least bit intrested in point n click games, this is a no brainer.
