A competently made point-and-click game... but very depressing

I'd say the strongest thing this game has is atmosphere; it's very creepy and the background graphics are top notch and very creative. If you don't like gore I'd advise you avoid this game. I felt like the game was trying a bit too hard to gross me out at some point, but I guess it's the aesthetic they were aiming for. The characters models and animation can look a tad wonky at time but nothing too bad. Most puzzles made sense and there was no "moon logic" and apart for one or two instances where things got way too cryptic it wasn't too difficult. You'll find a lot of "PDA" lying around that the crew uses as diary and notes. The writing is pretty good. Also, the voice acting for the main character is surprisingly good and credible. Overall good writing. Soooo what's the problem? I dunno I just finished it and I feel kinda empty. I'm not gonna spoil anything but the ending is a huge downer. I feel like the story is pretty straightforward, I can't say I was blown away with it.

Enjoyable

I was pleasantly surprised by this. An enjoyable point and click with a good story and lots to discover about the ship, where you are and how you came to be there whilst trying to find the rest of your family. It reminded me a little bit of System Shock in that sense, discovering about the ships with pda logs from dead crew members that you find scattered about. These are also useful for solving puzzles at times as well as generally adding to the over all feel of the game. All in all a really good point and click adventure, no stupid illogical puzzles although the odd time you pick something up before having any idea why you would need to, but I guess that's an inherent problem in these types of gams. I'd say this was the most enjoyable point and click adventure I've played since the Broken Sword days.

Great horror point-and-click adventure.

Sci-fi, horror, and classic point-and-click adventure. If you enjoyed the movies, Event Horizon and Pandorum, then the setting for this game will be right for you. Stasis doesn't have any gotchas or traps that can end a run or game. You will need to do everything properly before moving on, but don't worry as the game isn't very cryptic. Beware there are plenty of pda's to read, which are logs or journals. They do flesh out the story and some logs are helpful when solving puzzles. Definately worth the full price.

blood, mucus, intestines

You can actually have a lot of fun with this game if you set your expectations correctly. Stasis is more of a horror sci-fi discovery tour than a point-and-click adventure. The main attraction is in revealing new horrors and perverse deviations and reconstructing the history of the research ship Groomlake based on the exciting diarys of former crew members. There are some puzzles in between, but they are strictly linear, which can lead to misunderstandings (e.g. if you can only interact with objects after they have been activated). The atmosphere is dense and gripping, although - similar to Lovecraft - the horror is never shown directly. In the meantime, the feeling creeps in that the Brotherhood could no longer decide between all the disgust and horror and then simply packed a good handful of everything into the game (mutants, killermushrooms, monster insects, genetic manipulation, child experiments, gas chambers, Frankenstein, blood, mucus, intestines), so that you sometimes lose a bit of an overview of what the real issue is and what you actually do here - well, if in doubt, explore further, because the next horror is only an airlock away.

Unbelievably good horror

This game pretty much almost singlehandedly got me into point and click adventures. I don't even like point and click puzzlegames, at all. Yet in spite of all this it remains, along with Brotherhood's other fabulously excellent PaC Beautiful Desolation, one of the most engrossing and memorable titles I have ever played. Graphics are crisp and beautiful, gameplay is nice and engaging even for a puzzlegame, it just werks but even that's beyond the point. This game is one of the creepiest, scariest games I ever played---a point and click adventure game. That's just how good it is to me, which speaks volumes considering I played everything from SOMA to Deadspace to Darkwood with the lights off. Absolutely play this game with lights off late into the night. Even though it's super short it's super memorable, and definitely check out their other games. My only one complaint is I found the swearing made the writing come off as juvenile rather than edgy, a sin many less experienced writers seem to make and crpg Tyranny had the same problems, but otherwise writing is okay (though Beautiful Desolation is where The Brotherhood really came into their own). I would strongly recommend Stasis to any horror fan, or familiarish to crpg players. As a puzzlegame they're not too hard, but strong enough you have to think about it. REALLY great soundscape btw, completely adds to the immersion. Absolutely a steal when it's on sale and I already have Bone Totem wishlisted. These guys are just great, and Stasis is a wonderful chaser to something like Alien Isolation or Deadspace.
