Description
Starship Troopers: Terran Command is a thrilling real-time strategy game set in the Starship Troopers movies universe. Take command of the Mobile Infantry and do your part in the war against the Arachnid threat. Build, develop and control your armies to strike an effective balance between tactical superiority and strength in numbers. Ensure that human civilization, not insect, dominates the galaxy now and always!

Story Campaign

The population of the harsh desert planet Kwalasha needs our help. Their daily lives of hard work in the mining industries has been disturbed by a new danger that they cannot face alone: the Arachnid. The Mobile Infantry will swiftly move in, take back control over the planet and smash everything that has more than two legs. Take part in this exciting military campaign, meet unique characters, see amazing locations and experience the heroic war against the Bug.

Tactics & Numbers

While the Arachnids can rely on virtually limitless numbers, the Mobile Infantry must develop effective tactics to overcome this imbalance. Deploy your units at strategic locations to cover vital choke points and gain superior firepower through tactical use of elevation levels. Be wary, however, that battle mechanics such as True Line of Sight and True Line of Fire also allow Bugs to lay ambushes around every corner, as they are well known for their use of surprise attacks and deception.

Units & Abilities

An expansive range of unique units are at your disposal, each with its own strengths, weaknesses and unlockable elite abilities. Squads of Rifle Troopers, for example, form the mainstay of your forces and can utilize “shotgun suppression” or “boom bundles” when they reach the elite experience level. Rocket Troopers on the other hand are specialists that deliver various types of deadly ordnance, ranging from armor-piercing and high-explosive warheads to incendiary and canister payloads.

As a campaign progresses, new technology buildings can be deployed to unlock the true potential of the Federation’s arsenal with E-Pulse rifles, TAC Fighter airstrikes, heavily armed Marauder bipedal vehicles, and many more developments optimized for spraying Bug ichor across the battlefield.

Key features

  • An immersive storyline campaign featuring unique missions, characters and a lot of Starship Troopers flavor.
  • Dozens of unique unit types, each with their own special abilities.
  • Terrain elevation, True Line of Sight & True Line of Fire provide deep tactical gameplay.
  • Capture and hold vital radio stations, construct base defenses to repel Arachnid attacks and deploy technology buildings to unlock new weaponry.
  • Heroics, explosions, gore, and Bugs. Lots of Bugs.

Launcher off scale & obnoxious tutorial.

I play on a larger scale UI / Resolution. So imagine my "shock" when I launch the game that the game launch box doesn't show half the stuff I need to see. I could barely see the play button to click it. I could find any box arrows to expand the box out either so I could see it. I thought perhaps the game didn't register the proper resolution. Imagine my "shock" once again when I get into the game and wait for the annoying "narrator" to stop talking, the voice acting was atrocious as well, so I can open the options menu. The resolution was set to the proper size. Oh okay then why did the launch box for the game not show things properly if the game detected the right resolution? Then I noticed a "submit to data collection" box automatically check marked for collection. I know it's the age of the internet and our privacy is a glass house at this point but at least let me play my game in peace without you having to know my dxdiag, msinfo, GPU, CPU and other IP info and "non-identifying" information. If you want the game to be better then just genuinely ask players for feedback and include a feedback reporting button for them to send you more feedback and information. Let people give it to you willingly and even include a section for them to include their computer specs or other info and let them CHOOSE to give it to you. People respect companies that respect their privacy. Then another thing during the tutorial it was just nonstop PINGING sounds flashing nonstop on the radar. HEY GO HERE! HEY GO HERE! HEY GO HERE! ...Ok Navi didn't realize I was looking for the Ocarina of Time and we're here to stop Ganonbug the Arch Bad Roach guy. There isn't even an option to stop that / turn it off unless you mute the whole game sound effects. Total oversight and a nuisance for sure. Between all of these issues and not being able to get the launcher to work right I just requested a refund. I had high hopes for this game. Shame on me for expecting a good modern game in this age. :(

good mechanics, good humor -> good game

I had a blast playing the game. But the game is too short in my opinion. The humor is on point. I wish there were more scenarios.

A gem in spirit of the Verhoeven movie

As the title says, this game is highly based on the Verhoeven movie, with lots of hints to events and characters in the movie, but also a lot of fresh ideas like new enemy types and special troopers - which cannot be seen in the movie - later in the game. Different troop types have weaknesses and strengst against certain enemies and vice-versa. Like in the movies, there is no collecting resources or any real base building. Instead in cases of losses in you infantry you will be reinforced. Base building consists of choosing some buildings allowing you to recruit certain troop types plus building defense towers with your engineers. In some missions you will still play in larger bases, sometimes even underground. This may not sound like much of a challenge, and while the first missions are really very well doable, the tactial challenges become increasingly difficult later on. Especially some of the later missions will challenge you seriously and will likely make you struggle at least a bit. In between missions, the story is driven in a fashion very similar to the news service in the movie. Sometimes I personally found the missions a bit too stressful - on the other hand this kinda reflects the spirit of the movie as well. In the sense that in some situations no matter what you do, you cannot really control the events happening because everything just happens to fast and some of your troops will suffer. Also, some of the new enemy types annoyed me because they have a larger range than your troops with the largest range. Of course there is always an answer to every enemy type (as you can evade such attacks if you're fast enough), but this was at least a slight balancing issue to me. Overall, this game will entertain everyone very well who is at least a small fan of the Verhoeven movie and wanted to be able to actually control the run of events. Fans of the book or people expecting complex base building might be disappointed, though. "Would you like to know more?"

Good old style RTS

Solid RTS "old school" with excellent atmosphere capturing the Starship Troopers movie from 90s. Suggest to play at least "Challenging" difficulty to feel the real threat of the bugs. Missions are relatively varied for the Starship Troopers universe beyond the obvious (and quite fun) "all-the-line-defend-the-base-at-all-cost" mission. Almost finished the campaign and never felt bored during the missions so good job for their designs.
