STAR WARS™ Shadows of the Empire™

Sooo, This was definitly one of the games that pretty much epitimized my childhood... that being said... though I loved it... there were plenty of levels I hated. being older... I actually enjoyed those levels, being a more precise gamer I guess. Also, the concepts and the designs are great for those levels too. anywho, summing up this muttle of a review... The game is actually fantastic due to the challenge it provides for the mechanics... the base mechanics took about a minute to get use to, so thats a positive as well. Totally recommend this to anyone up for platforming with shooting mechanics that require precision reaction. its a fun time :3

Seriously why are you reading what I'm writing ? If you're here it's because you played the game during your childhood or when you were younger so stop reading the comments because you know everyone agree this was a great game. I'm gonna go play it right now.

One of my all time favorite games From when I was a kid. That being said the nostalgia factor on this game is high for me, take that as you will. The controls are a bit clunky by today's standards (obviously, 20 year old game) but after getting used to them I didn't even notice. The story, the characters, everything about this game is amazing. Like other games of this era the difficulty of this game gives an adequate challenge, playing on normal gives it enough of a challenge that it isn't too easy that it becomes boring but lets you get through the story without too much trouble, whereas playing on the harder difficulties will certainly give a good challenge.

(If you have issues with starting it on your laptop, use dgVoodoo!) I went into this game with a fresh mind, never having played it before. It was a pretty short (~3.5 hours) but rewarding experience. The gameplay is fun, the graphics are ok, the music is really good, the setpieces are also pretty good, and it has that overall good Star Wars feel to it. (except for the obligatory damn sewer level) However, the story is not very well implemented, you just do random things because the game tells you to, except of course if you know the Shadows of the Empire story. The controls are a little wonky, too, they take a while to get used to and explore. (I only figured out I can aim my gun by the time I was fighting the Gladiator droid!) Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who likes Star Wars, either read the Shadows of the Empire book or comic, and can appreciate games for what they were at the time, and doesn't mind it missing a lot of the necessities we're so used to today.

I played this on the N64 almost 20 years ago and loved it. Lots of fond memories playing the game. I know the game is old but I was still surprised to see how well it ran on my low voltage cpu/integrated gpu $200 tablet/notebook convertible. I was able to play it at 1920x1080 at 60 fps. The story isn't anything wild but the predictability helps make it fit in to the Star Wars universe. The real star wars music helps tremendously here, making you feel like you're in a movies and may help if you don't like the older graphics. My biggest gripes are that the standard control settings suck, and some of the jump sections become almost Mario-like. I hate platforming games but it hasn't kept me from playing this. These gripes are minor and did not warrant taking away an entire star, rated a 4.5 I had to round up to a 5.
