There's a fair amount of fun to have in SotE that is marred by its control scheme(s) and various design decisions. It's equally far from a total waste and from the best Star Wars action games. As always, nostalgia helps with ballancing things out, but you are better off with the safer bets in case you have none for this one.
this was my first experience with star wars, i rebought it to relive the magic. the gameplay is floaty and clunky and pretty bad... but its also better that it ever was on N64. New voice and animation screens are super cool, and the gameplay is simple but mixed with the classic star wars score, it still gets me in the adventuring mood. they are asking a fair price, if your only experience with this title was on original N64 (like me) then you owe it to yourself to try this one!
I had the opportunity to play this game at the height of gaming innovation on the N64, so I am bit biased here.
Back then, I could appreciate what the game makers were trying to do, but standing the test of time and as a game of today, with the clumsy controls and the outdated graphics, I really can't see the point of the game anymore.
You most likely will not appreciate this game at all and just get frustrated and ask yourself, how the he*k did "old" people like these type of games at all?
The only good this game had going on in all honesty was that it was released during the Star Wars episode 1 theatrical release (if I'm not mistaken) and in that context it was a great chance to play a game like this and being a player of the force, and not even that actually ^___^
Ultimate verdict: The force is not strong with this one, more Star Wars game there are!
Owned this on N64 back in the day. Always heard the PC version was superior due to exclusive FMVs that wasn't possible on N64 and better controls. I remember this game being pretty hard and it still kind of is. I bought this for the childhood nostalgia.
A long time ago in a far galaxy I played this game on my then powerful computer (Matrox Mystique + 3DFX allied to an AMD K6 200, whooo what a monster beast !).
I enjoyed the game a lot and I thought I could relive the good moments by buying the GOG version.
Alas, it is almost un playable beacuse of the joypad mapping and the fact that i can not aim up or down which I could in my early days if I remember well.
The last stages are almost impossible to complete.
