STAR WARS™ Battlefront (Classic, 2004)

After all this time, this game is still very fun to play every now and then. While its sequel has the addition of spaceship battles in outer space, I've always preferred the infantry combat in this game, as well as its planetary vehicle combat (both ground and light aircraft). A good game which, for me, has stood the test of time, especially in its particular genre.

I got this game for £4 and I've had more fun than I ever had with its 2016 counterpart, where I spent £80 for the super duper edition. The best memory I have of this game has to be when I was just a kid, got the controller and walked my wookie to a tie fighter and was amazed that I was actually able to just pilot it. Freedom is without a doubt the best feature of this game - you can pilot any vehicle that you see and that is simply amazing. The AI is surprisingly inteligent, more so that most of your online team mates and enemies. Sometimes you will have the random weird stormtrooper just rolling into the abiss, but so will many of your real-life teammates. The graphics are obviously dated, but have their own charm and appeal. They have aged quite finely, where you see that there were limitations but they did the best they could and it shows. If you are a fan of star wars you MUST have this game!

there is little to say with Lacas Games they were great at the time and still are to those gamers that grew up with them I love every minute playing it

Aged very well its a great classic in the star wars universe

Playing this game in Windows 11 on modern hardware and it's smooth as silk. The game isn't demanding enough to make VSync an issue on 60Hz monitors and my Creative AE-5 Plus soundcard is compatible with the OpenAL hardware acceleration. Action is fast & fair, the classic units are pure nostalgia, and the soundtrack is outstanding of course. Great pickup when on sale,
