One blast from destruction, the U.S.S. Voyager is mysteriously transported into a hull space infested with danger. As part of Voyager's elite Hazard Team, you must defend it from a host of scavenging aliens, then infiltrate a Borg Cube and derelict vessels to eradicate your deadly foes. The Quake III Arena™ engine powers the dynamic gameplay as you fight for survival through 40 ultra-intense single-player missions and 16 multiplayer arenas. It's first-person shooter action that won't quit. But, be prepared-if Voyager is destroyed, humanity won't be far behind...
Fight along side crewmembers with the additional of Icarus AI, an enhancement to the Quake III Arena™ engine that allows for extraordinary team interaction.
Nine weapons-each with two firing modes-gives you eighteen different attack options. That means the firepower will be there when you need it most.
Multiplayer modes offer Free-for-All, Capture the Flag and breathless Team play.
Corridors collapse, walls explode, and enemies materialize right in front of you.
Includes the Star Trek™: Voyager - Elite Force Expansion Pack.
WOW! I wanted gog to add these games for quite a while now, never actually believing it could be done... WHAT AN AWESOME SURPRISE! Elite Force and Elite Force II are really mostly fun FPS games and make you feel as though you are truley in the Star Trek Universe. Buy them both!
Very stable, smooth gameplay. GOG did a really good job here. Elite Force was one of my all time favourite Star Trek games and I wouldn't even be a big FPS fan. Good stable release, worked perfectly on my system first time - remember to have a look at the video settings and crank it all up to max. Vintage gaming at its best!
Well it's depressing that this game came out in 2000 and like other reviews I had the cd version.
Anyway.
A fun singleplayer mode with references to other parts of St:VOY and other ST series, challenging levels and boss fights.
But i really want to talk about the multiplayer, and the play vs bots, I never played quake III I did play unreal and I loved it, if you liked unreal you will like this.
The AI is tricky to defeat and provides a decent challenge. Even the deathmatch mode is a laugh.
Also someone programmed in catchphrases and sayings from the AI. So in the heat of battle you can hear them "trash" talking.
"But how would that even work!?" you asks. Simple, just make the enemy someone you cannot possibly reason with. A relentless antagonist against whom violence is the only answer!
You're a member of Hazard Team, a special security force on board Voyager, tasked with taking on very dangerous away missions. Under Tuvok's watchful eye, its up to your team to prevent Voyager and her crew from falling into Borg clutches!
Exploring Voyager and interacting with characters from the show is fun.
The amount of dedication for detail is pretty good, the actors from the show reclaim their roles, and the chonkey low poly models are charming.
When it comes to gameplay its OK, but not great.
The engine is based on Quake 3 so the movement is fine, but all the weapons are kind of boring.
Very "pew pew" lasers, which is appropriate for the Star Trek Theme, but isn't that fun.
Speaking of the Star Trek theme, the story isn't that good. Solving everything with shooting guns isn't very Star Trek. Maybe a first person arena shooter isn't a great match for Star Trek. I couldn't like Munro, he is kind of a "generic action movie" type, which isn't that fitting to the setting.
Technical issues:
I played it on a Steam Deck, and I had to use the "Virtual Desktop" setting in Wine, because the start up menu wasn't playing nice in full screen.
