Star Trek™: Starfleet Command Gold Edition

I tried for 2 hours to try and get this working. It crashes less than 5 minutes after I turn it on no matter what.

The game is good, when I played it 1999. Unlucky me, now I own windows 10, and game crashes with error message when i select the race. This bug seems not common, "google" "bing" didn't find anythink. hope GOG will do a complete overhaul of this game.

This game was a great game when it came out, and I got this game here hoping that I would be able to relive the joy that I had when playing back then. However, everytime I play it, it crashes during the first mission. This game needs some work GOG! If it ever gets fixed I will upgrade to 5 stars.

One of the best tactical strategy games. A great adaptation of the board game "Star Fleet Battles". The game is easy to start playing, difficult to master. GOG now only have to publish other games in the series

First of all, be aware that the game won't work on Windows 8/10 machines. Or to be precise, it run for 5 minutes, then it will crash. If you want to play the game; better install Xp on a virtual machine (or pull out of the museum some Celeron 400 :) ), otherwise forget about play on a recent OS. It is a shame; I spent on this game, when it was released, an incredible amount of hours, because the game is the best strategic simulator of a starship; in some ways more complex and interesting than Bridge Commander. The graphic is OK; it is an old title so you know what to expect. The graphic is blocky, but it won't hurt your eyes; the UI is a bit big, so you may want to learn the keyboard shortcuts, and hide the UI panel with the D key. Most of the graphic is made in very simple 3d with some gigantic textures in low res, it was great on a 800x600 screen, but on a HD LCD monitor, you may notice the imperfections. It run fast though. The game was optimized to run on old hardware, so you won't have issues for sure, even with an old laptop with integrated graphic. Sound is awesome; a nice musical score will accompany your adventures, and the voice acting is also good (You may expect Mr Takei to give his famous "Oh My" at any time...I must admit that I wish there was his trademark sentence in the game too). The effects are great and overall the audio department is something that did age pretty well. Gameplay is what this game does best: it is technical; you have full control on the whole ship subsystems, it takes time to recharge weapons, so it is a game of patience and strategy, to wear the opponent's shield down, while saving yours. If you want a fast game, steer away from this one. The whole point is to use the various systems to the best you can, to get that small advantage to win the battle. You are never overpowered, which is why this game is so great! It takes experience to get good at it. Many elements were used in the STO MMO game; you may want to check it out.
