Star Trek™: Armada

It’s great to see Star Trek Armada return and now being playable again. After doing some work with the DXWrapper and installing the 1.3.0 patch for higher resolution, the game run better this time! So excited the interactive main menu works finally. I only hope dedicated servers for multiplayer can be done by GOG soon but either way, I’m glad Armada is back and better than ever!

The campaign does a good job of capturing the feel of Star Trek episodes, and the story fits well. The resource management is a little one dimensional, and it is generally too easy to turtle, trade well, wait for the enemy to run out of resources (Dilithium) and then crush them. This is one of my all time favorite Star Trek games. I played it for hours when I first came out all those years ago, and can have nearly the same amount of fun all these years latter. The graphics are a bit low poly and dated, but hold up well enough as do the other aspects of the game. My only real complaints are i wish it had a longer campaign, and it can run slow at times even on modern hardware. The game can work in Wine, but seems to be a little picky with hardware/distribution/settings out of the box. I had good luck with getting it to run with Fedora.

Loved this game back in the day with CD ROMs and crappy internet. I was so happy to find this game again. Lots of fun and just a great way to kill a few hours.

Best RTS campaigns!

I've been waiting for GOG.com to get Star Trek Armada since I first found GOG.com way before GOG GALAXY was even a thing and when they only had good old games. I've re-bought almost every game from my childhood now there are a few I'd still like to get but those are from late 80's some people have never heard of like "Street Rod California Dreams" AKA HOT ROD! the first racing game that let you buy any car and rebuild the engine as much as it would let you anyway change the transmission. anyway sorry I have A.D.D and get side tracked easy lol. this game was an instant favorite when I first played it back in the day and it is still a favorite today. I am having an issue with it not coming on but i just installed it and havent tried to get it going really yet I'm sure itll work on one of my rigs. Star Trek 25th anniversary does same thing on this rig but works fine on my other one so im sure this one will work fine to Thanks GOG!!!
