I can see why it's still alpha yet
It's beautiful and looks really polished (except for some scrolling glitches on my machine) and the gameplay is top notch. Yet there are some issues that certainly need to be addressed before release: - Selecting game controller for main character had an empty configuration on my system (with USB attached PS3-controller), and assigning the controls is still very buggy (I couldn't assign all actions, and feedback was difficult) - Menu handling for the options and in other places needs improvement on feedback and performance - At some places the interaction was near the edge of my screen and the speech boxes were partially (and in one instance fully) offscreen - Usage instructions in popups shows incorrect keys (for example 'Y' to cook, but it was 'E', or 'W' to dive instead of 'S' (keyboard setup with default keys!) - these hints need to reflect the assigned key for the action (especially with key-rebinding) - A few times the key to press was given as "sprite-35", this could be a localization issue - It would be nice to have a toggle character option to switch between Stella and Daffodil in single player (obviously one can have keyboard + gamepad (inputs need to be separate now), but not the same input for both) So, there are some rather obvious bugs and it lacks a bit of optimization. Everything else is brilliant so far. (Obviously can't tell how deep the passengers' stories in the full version will be...)
