I gave the free demo a try because I had nothing else to do and wasn't expecting to get captured by it. Animation style and music are lovely, feels like a casual calm game yet it doesn't bore you. The game doesn't promise an open world as far as I understand but looks like there'll be a lot of exploration, which means beautiful scenery etc. I'll definitely pick it up.
So far, yes. The artwork is beautiful. The music, characters and dialog is light-hearted and fun. The idle animations are fun to watch and you can swim, which was a nice touch when getting to the end of the area.
There are still a few minor bugs but overall worth waiting for he final release. I had issues picking the vegetables, with the left plot requiring 5x the amount of button pussing than the rest. Had to revert back to the keyboard to get the timing right. The menu responsiveness was a bit sluggish and the delay between buying items was too long. There's no option to buy more than 1 at a time. I also ran into issues with the button assignments as the game correctly detected a plugged in controller but didn't tell me so I defaulted to keyboard at first.
As for system requirements, the loading time was longer than normal on a dual core i3 with 6 GB ram,, but game play was smooth and responsive even with other apps running in the background.
As others have said, it's a beautiful, calm and strangely comforting experience. The brief but amazing demo hints at a rhythm to the game that I could easily see myself getting lost in.
Playing as a cross between Charon and Steven Universe, you find a place for (lost?) souls on your ferry, help them find peace through the journey and ultimately bid them farewell. What little the demo shows is quite touching, with everything from dialogue, quests and the subtle animations during hugs overflowing with character and charm. I already feel like I have a strong familiarity with my passengers, even though I exchanged no more than a few sentences with each.
The mechanics are simple but elegant, fitting together in surprisingly clever ways. Platforming and building placement both seems surprisingly straight forward at first, but shortly into your first journey (I won't spoil the details) a new mechanic is revealed that weaves the two together and suddenly has you rethinking the game. I feel the same way about fishing, cooking and sea navigation.
If this demo is emblematic of the full game to come, then I have a strong suspicion that I'll have a new favourite game soon.
The demo was incredible, when it ended i just wanted MORE. Waiting for news about this super game and I give a lot of love to the devs !
(I encountered a bug during the game: for a moment Gwen climbs a ladder and her animation is still the one of climbing when she walk until she get in her house and she came back to normal)
