Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

A fantastic story, possibly some of the best hand to hand martial arts combat in any game of its type and if you like living in a Hong Kong action movie then this is for you. It's absolutely criminal this game never got it's planned sequel as it's just such a very fun place to spend your time. Yes, there's the obvious comparisons to GTA which of course is epic, but frankly and personally I think the driving and combat mechanics crushes even that behemoth to this day, plus it's just fun! Love GOG for bringing this to their library and into the hands of so many people who will I'm sure get to enjoy it. Wherever you are now United Front, you made something incredible.

I started this game on PS3 a few years back but never completed it. I'm so glad I picked it up again on PC. Loved the story, gameplay, and world design. The combat was fun and intense. I did skip a lot of the side content so I can't speak for that but the main story was great. I will say that thousand knifes dlc was some bull though. Highly recommended it! 9/10

Back in 2012 I was among the first players in the world to achieve Platinum on the international PS3 version, Because of Germany's own little censored version, there was no wei (pun intended) to get my hand on its DLC. Now I can finally play through the DLC chapters I've never experienced - and complete the game all over again. And it's still amazing: Very enjoyable melee combat with, at times, very bloody finishers, lots of driving, collecting, martial arts tropes, a very strong voice cast involving very known actors and very faithful to Hong Kong and the movies that inspired this game, especially Hardboiled and Infernal Affairs. I'm having a blast! Nightmare in North Point I'm planning for Halloween, but Year of the Snake is a direct follow-up to the events of the main game. The third story DLC, the Zodiac Tournament, can be directly accessed in the main campaign and while you'll unlock it early on, I'd recommend you get upgraded enough first.

If you didnt play this game yet, do yourself a favor and play it. If you like Honk Kong action cinema, then this game is a must. It checks all the boxes: furious action scenes, gruesome deaths, martial arts and even some humour. Gameplay is sharp, responsive and fun. Graphics may be a bit dated for some, but in no moment they get in the of the fun. The VAs did a wonderful job and the story really hits you in ways you wouldn't expect. Brilliant, masterpiece. Must have for people of culture.

Holy hell. This is a great game. Like, I used to be a big fan of open world games, but over time I began to find a lot of them boring with bland stories, cookie-cutter side missions and the most bland characters. Sleeping Dogs tosses all that out of the window (barring a few of those cookie-cutter side missions, but what can you do?) The story is wonderful and the characters really are such a vivid and colorful cast. When something happens to them, you really feel bad. The voice-actors really went above and beyond to make their characters feel alive. The gameplay is solid; nothing super spectacular or unique but it feels really good to just get immersed and really get in this world. My largest gripe would have to be with the camera which occasionally flips around weirdly and the ending of the story kinda feels a little rushed in certain ways? Its not a bad ending by any means; I kind of expected it in some ways, but I felt like it could have maybe been extended by a short while. Additionally, I also think an alternative ending would have really fit the game's central premise of an undercover cop fighting with his two sides. Overall, I really think this is a great game. I bought it when it came on GOG because it look interesting and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. If you're apprehensive about the price, get it on sale; I got it for dirt cheap but even at full-price its totally worth it. What a great game.
