Silver, a corrupt and sinister sorcerer, rules the land of Jarrah with an iron fist. He and his henchmen have abducted the village women as part of a pact with the almighty god, Apocalypse. Now, only one man can put a stop to Silver and his minions. That man is you, David, a promising young knight whose wife is among the captured. In order to succeed you'll need to recruit allies, master your swordplay, learn the art of magic, and venture through hostile worlds teeming with Silver's corrupt followers to find 8 lost artifacts. Begin your quest, and become a hero!
Silver is the European answer to JRPGs, which were very popular at the time. With eye-candy in the form of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, manga-inspired character design, and console-style gameplay, it introduced PC gamers to a new genre. This game is very unique on PC as there are only a few such titles on this platform, so if you feel like trying a different approach to role-playing, then this is a title for you!
Form your party from a cast of interesting and diverse characters, each with their own unique traits.
Gripping story and polished gameplay combine to make a “simple” RPG that’s still a lot of fun.
Unique combat system with real-time, fast-paced action--you assume direct control over one of the characters, and the rest of your team fights on their own.
I played silver 10 years ago and finished it 4 times.
Silver has a unic universe where you can immerse, live there.
Its history is very good, certainly will keep you involved.
Its a rare product and will give you the better experience in a RPG game.
I've almost lost hope that this game will ever be released on GoG, but WOW - you are the best!
This game belongs among my very favorites and thus stands beside titles like Ocarina of Time and FF7. In my opinion it's one of the most underrated games in RPG history.
The story and character-developement may not be the deepest but together with the beautiful backgrounds and the awesome soundtrack, it mediates an unforgetable atmosphere!
Silver has a unique combat control: You control your melee attacks with mouse strokes (while holding CTRL). An upward stroke triggers a forward thrust that deals high damage but is slow, a sideways stroke triggers a slash, a downward stroke triggers a 180° strike to cover your back. This made the combat incredibly direkt and immersive.
On the downside you change weapons and magic and access potions via a circle menue. This circly menue pops up, obstukts your view and prohibits other input while NOT stopping other events, meaning you have to click through a menue to heal your characters while around you the battle keeps raging on. This was why the game was labeled very difficult by many and maybe one factor of why it didn't sell very well.
A unique and sometimes challenging, story driven action-RPG and a must-have for me!
GOG. I love what youve down! This game means so much to me, and im glad i can replay it after years of perpetual strive to get it running!
Just one thing, and ill give this another star:
Plz add further languages (especially german) to download!
Id love to hear the voices ive heard once again :)
Please! Then everything is perfect! :)
I rebought it after i saw it was translated but whenever i try to run in italian i get DVDCHAR dialog error randomly trough the game, witch crashes me to desktop, so i cannot reccommend unless you want to play in english.
Scenery is very good, story is nondescript, characters are just passable, control in battle is rather bad.
It would still be enjoyable, but there are blocking bugs that seem to depend on the computer the game is played on.
My suggestion: avoid it if you play for fun and not for frustration.
