Good time!
This game has a nostalgic value to me from when I was a kid and it was on PS2 and around the time RE4 came out. Both games were scary, fun, and immersive at the time. I do not believe every game needs a remake or remaster, so I was indifferent when initially seeing the annoucement but then got more excited as time when on. Then release comes around and I hear good things but it suffers in performance on some hardware. Fast forward more time and I have left the Steam platform due to my personal beliefs on purcahsing games. GOG is now my main platform and the only one I make purchases on now, so when Sillent Hill 2 shadow dropped on GOG for a discount, I had to get it finally. That being said, playing the game finally, I was nervous on how I would feel. I mentioned RE4 because I have liked all the RE remasters except RE3 and RE4. As I did not feel the same feelings as when I initally played the original. Sillent Hill 2 is actually different in gameplay aspects, level design, graphics, etc but I still had the same feeling when I was a kid playing this for the first time in my room alone. Which for me, is an amazing experience to relive. The original was like the OG RE games too that they had fixed camera angles with tank controls. That is changed here as well which worried me but I like it for one reason, the fog. The fog was more of an horror aesthetic and add to the story. The way it is design helps the redesign of over the shoulder because the fog can hide and show as much as the developers intended. Which keeps the tention as the original did when not being able to see past the camera view. The graphics, story, and characters are great. The performance imo could be better. Have no doubt it is worth it. Blooper great job! GOG you did amazing as well. DOOM and Silent Hill in the same month?! Thank you Blooper and GOG =)
