I am going to force a headache to all fanboys here, but I think it's just a decent game with too much cryptic storytelling to it's own fault.
All those blurred images, screams of insanity written on the walls and in notes found troughout the game will essentially tell you nothing of importance.
It's an incredible remake, it runs well, it's been patched enough so there is no more stutters, but still for me it's a nice 7,5, nothing more.
Not having played the original I was able to go into this one blind, and I absolutely loved it. A fantastic mix of puzzle elements of varying complexity and light combat that rarely seemed overly daunting but always managed to maintain the oppressive atmosphere.
All you need to know here ! Set combat to medium but puzzle to hard, I can recommend good headphones and a gamepad, I play this with a dualsense controller, the game supports ps glyphs.
Doesn't run as well as an RE Engine game but at least THEY release their game on gog.
It's not the same as the game we played 25 years ago, but it does a great job of modernizing it for a new audience. Captures the atmosphere and mood of the original with fantastic presentation, sound, and voice acting.
Haven't finished it completely yet with around 11 hours in, but so far i really love this remake. This is how you make a great remake faithful to the original (looking at you RE2R and 3R). Awesome game and can't wait to finish it again over 20 years after the orignal game.
