I love how you can switch between different classes on a whim and customize them to your heart's content. It has full voice acting, save whenever you want, tons of great things. This and Victor Vran are the types of ARPGs that spoil the rest of the genre and make it hard to play Diablo or the like again, in a good way of course! Nice job developers!
The puppet thing is interesting. Quickly switching between characters makes for a somewhat different mechanic for an RPG.
The inventory system is different in a rather annoying way, and it took me a while to figure out why my inventory looked empty. - Inventory items only appear when their item slot is selected.
I like that you have an initial choice of who your primary puppet/soul is, but I ended up recruiting this annoying critter I wanted nothing to do with by completing a side quest. No idea that would be the result.
I had enough when there was a locked door that required trigger a boulder to roll, then having to precisely time triggering some temporary platforms to keep it rolling to its pressure plate. I don't have the patience for such "puzzles". Maybe it would have been better if the switches also weren't staggered and made movement between them annoying.
It took a few failed attempts to figure out what was going on. A couple more after I figured it out and I quit and uninstalled.
A great older game that still stacks up in terms of gameplay and story. Good RPG with decisions regarding stats, inventory and abilities. Can switch between up to 4 characters on the go. Lots of backtracking to complete quests and some quest markers are deceptive - marker will point to a map exit, but you need to traverse that map and another to get to the subarea where the quest is. Teleporters around every second map. Needs a couple of playthroughs to unlock all characters. And voice acting by Tom Baker, one of the best Doctor Who's!!
There are two “worlds-crossing” games I’ve truly enjoyed: Darksiders II and Diablo II.
This game made me feel like I was playing both of them at the same time.
We’ve got a really great game here!
