Awesome!
What an excellent game! Everything about it is well executed, from the performance on a middling computer to the juvenile humor and flowing gameplay. The game is entirely satisfying in that old fashioned, "stupid fun" sort of way that makes it a joy to play. Not that it's a simple game. Oh no, it has just the right number of wrinkles, whether that be assigning "Ki Points" which alter your fundamental skillset or stacking up "Karma" in order to select Perks which flesh out your character. Even your individual weapons can be upgraded. Every combat encounter plays out in a fantastically frantic manner, with the player using their wide variety of combos and skills, weapons and movement in order to slay the demon hoards. Again, the game has a sort of pure, visceral and raw "fun" that makes it a joy to play at every moment. The story isn't lacking either, with a wonderfully narrated deeper and emotional "backdrop" play going on behind the Player Character's more puerile (though hilarious!) narration of events. I can't recommend the game highly enough. It's a perfect combination of gameplay, humor, visuals and story wrapped in fun times ten. Hell it even makes backtracking entertaining! The moment you stumble out of a perfectly designed ancient well and right back into the fray you'll know you found a winner. Assuming you hadn't had a smile on your face and realized that in your previous hours of playtime already, that is! ;) Every gorgeous environment, well thought out level, laugh out loud line of dialogue and sheer fun factor make this a game I can't believe it took me so long to play. I can't believe this one isn't showered with praise in every discussion of fantastic FPS games!
