Shadow Warrior tells the offbeat tale of Zilla Enterprise’s corporate shogun Lo Wang as he is ordered to acquire a legendary blade of limitless power by his deceitful employer. Who Wants some Wang?

I LOVE Shadow Warrior, both the original and now this new one. The great thing about this game is, like it's predecessor, it holds true to having great gameplay AND keeping you engaged with some awesome dialogue. This game has some awesome Shadow Warrior style jokes, but doesn't try and rely entirely on that to keep people playing the game. The combat system is really great, it does an amazing job of making use of the Katana Sword, which you'd think in a shooter would be just a weapon you'd use when you run out of ammo. Where as even with full ammo, I found myself using the Katana just for the fun factor. Whether your new to the series, or someone like myself who played the original, I'd strongly recommend this game.

Entirely Mediocre

As with most reboots, this seems to be riding on the reputation of the original - without the Shadow Warrior branding, this would be an entirely forgettable game. It's not completely terrible: the levels look nice, it runs well (I managed 4k 60fps on a GTX 970), and the combat is servicable. I didn't find the upgrade systems very interesting, but at least they made sense and rewarded exploration. But it's boring. Most of the 'humour' is in terrible one-liners that aren't even jokes, or plays on the name 'Wang' which was worn fairly thin with the original. The enemy design is par for the course, with the usual 'charging enemy you have to shoot in the back' appearning frequently by the end of the game; it wasn't fun the first time, and it certainly wasn't fun the 100th. The level design is entirely linear, with a few offshoots for exploration, but there is no clear direction at any point. I relied entirely on looking for the highlighted door or button to press, because there's no other way to navigate the levels. Even then I had to resort to YouTube several times because I missed a button in a massive empty arena. Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known it would be this boring. I'll stick to the original.

Best Game is played in a long time!

It's the first game I bought here and i have to say that this store is awesome! I bought because the Linux version and I have to say that the port is exceptional, it's an awesome port! As to the game is fantastic, for me it's the best remake ever made from a video game. The ambient/story is perfect, the graphics are excellent, and if you are a sword game lover like me you gonna love the bloody (real bloody) game. If you love magic powers game it's even better, here you have "Ki powers" in you and in your sword, you can even be fighting while using powers to heal yourself at the same time, real nice. But don't be mistaken, it's not an easy game if you play in an hard level... So my thoughts is buy the game, it's well worth it!

A great shooter with loveable characters

This game has everything a good shooter needs. The gameplay is fun, all the characters, including Lo Wang, are loveable and the voiceactors do a great job. The environments look great and are creative in Design and choice of general location. The soundtrack is also good. There are many weapons to choose from and the upgrade system for the weapons works really good. The upgrade system for the character however doesn't feel that usefull and needed most of the time. There are too many upgrades that aren't really needed but this is only one of few downsides this game has. Overall, it is a fun game with great humour and with that, is one of the games you play on an cold or rainy evening with nothing to do.

Fun game that outstays it's welcome

The game starts off very good with a likable protagonist, gorgeous graphics for it's time, and some of the most fun melee combat I experienced in a fps. The gameplay is more of a hack and slash than a fps however and I was expecting the guns to pack more punch but the guns are underpowered and using the kitana is is always the best option aside from flying enemies. It's a arena shooter akin to the serious Sam series, but focuses more on melee combat. The voice acting is also consistently great, and the soundtrack is average at best. The story is also decent and I really enjoyed the friendship between lo wang and hoji. Here is where the game starts to fall. The game throws a ton of enemies at you throughout the whole game and in the beginning this was fine and I was having fun with it, but once I reached half way through the game I just wanted it to end. The game throws a ton of the same annoying enemy types at you, and just when you think it's over they throw even MORE at you, over and over over and over and over again, and trust me those overs are not exaggerated. The enemies variety is not enough for the game to do this which starts making the game feel very repetive and 4 chapters too long. If it wasn't so repetitive it would be a 4 out of 5. That's why I can't recommend this game at full price BUT it is worth it at $5.99 on sale.
