Shadow Warrior tells the offbeat tale of Zilla Enterprise’s corporate shogun Lo Wang as he is ordered to acquire a legendary blade of limitless power by his deceitful employer. Betrayed and left for dead, Lo Wang learns of the blade’s connection to ancient gods from another realm preparing to push our world to the brink of destruction. Now the reluctant hero must become legend through a masterful combination of gun, blade, magic and wit to uncover the truth behind the demonic invasion and banish evil back into the darkness.
Shadow Warrior is a bold reimagining of the classic 3D Realms’ shooter from independent developer Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset) starring the legendary and quick-witted warrior Lo Wang. Combine the brute force of overwhelming firepower with the elegant precision of a katana to annihilate the merciless armies of the shadow realm in an exhilarating and visually stunning transformation of the classic first-person shooter.

Excellent level of graphics. Hurricane pace of the game. Excellent melee combat. Various weapons and tactics for using it. Excellent art style. Your favorite childhood character is back and ready to kick ass again. This is a shooter that not so many games can match.
I was sceptic about this game, saw few movies and screenshots, but actually comments here made me buy it. And i do not regret, game is classic shooter along with melee mechanics. Pretty complex, secrets to find and not even bad story. It's sure worth 9,99$ from promotion now. This game makes you use more melee weapons than guns only because melee fight is more awesome here than shooting. Greatly done game.
Smooth, fluid, colorful and violent - with a good story, too. Some shortcomings in weapon and enemy variety can be overlooked, because otherwise Shadow Warrior is everything an fps should be.
Total size on my hard-drive: 14 GB
+ Mobility is excellent. Movement is quick and smooth.
+ Great story.
+ Graphics are fantastic, especially for a game from 2013.
+ Great optimization.
+ Katana gameplay is violent and gory.
+ Fantastic soundtrack.
+ Excellent level design.
+ Good use of environmental hazards (exploding barrels, cars etc.).
+ New Game+ mode.
+/- Guns are meh. They get the job done, but that’s all.
+/- Default key-bindings are odd. Any key combo that require a double-tap PLUS a tap of another key is an instant point off for me. Keys are rebindable, though, and there is full controller support.
+/- The humor is straight-up 80’s action-style cheesy humor. And there are way too many Wang jokes. It didn’t wear on me, but could be annoying to some because it’s present right up to the end.
- Enemy variety. It’s not good. And the beserker is easily one of the most annoying enemy types I’ve EVER encountered (the old “only weak spot is on their back” schtick, except getting the beserker to turn can be tricky).
- Lack of bosses. There are a few, sure, but the majority of the game is horde mode. A more difficult encounter usually means an increased amount of enemies.
- Level design might be good, but it’s easy to get confused about which way to go. Sometimes you’ll find yourself going backwards through a level because the door you entered looks just like the one you’re supposed to use as an exit.
- Lack of direction through a level also means it’s easy to mistakenly advance to the next part or even exit the level when all you wanted to do was look around for secrets.
The fluid gameplay and funny dialogue is hard to resist, though, making Shadow Warrior an easy recommendation for fps fans. A reminder of just how memorable good games can be. 9/10
It doesn't have physics, predetermined free form decal scripting is more like it (for physics see red faction with digging through walls).
It's main focus seems like an afterthought; as the sword controls are clunky, slashes don't register from time to time and once again due to using predetermined decal scripting no real sense of being able to part your enemies even when you do score a hit.
It's upgrade system seems to have a lot of useless crap and should have focused on actual abilities as these are the only real things that seem to add much to the gameplay.
Things that shouldn't blow up do. In fact the areas are littered with them causing you to either constantly waste ammo clearing the minefield or walk a precarious dance of trying to be mindful of where that exploding garbage bin is at all times less you take massive damage in the thick of melee.
The upgrading of the weapons looked okay, but 3-4 upgrades seemed a bit small especially after playing borderlands.
The base button configs are horrible try crouching and zooming and creeping diagonally and you'll know what I mean (hey Wang maybe I should just mash the keyboard dong :P).
Sword fighting control, it never seemed to register a falling strike well at all. Could of been improved by using some actual physics and using tab to instance based fix view. No you have to be rolling your view around like Wang is a bobble head losing all perspective on what is actually happening.
