Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

An excellent stealth/tactics game, this has a good story, some great characters and some surprisingly touching character moments. On the pure gameplay side, it is always enjoyable, quite challenging and the characters have skill sets which nicely complement each other and can lead to all sorts of fun. I cant speak for anyone else, but I played through it using stealthy violence, going out of my way to lure NPC's to their deaths. The missions were varied, always well designed and the different challenges leave plenty of room for repeat play throughs if you are the type that likes to do so. It was well worth whatever I payed for it.

Phenomenal successor to Commandos series, expands the formula and adds new elements on top of being a worthy descendant of the legend.

I enjoyed every moment, every kill, every curse shouted when the guards' viewcone became red. Step by step, every mission can be concluded with patience and perseverance. That's a good point for a game: to play well you don't need to acquire techniques but only learn to wait.

I always liked "Commandos". "Shadow Tactics" is like a very good grandchild to that game. It took everything good from the "Commandos" and added a ton of improvements. I especially liked the function. The game feels so so so satisfying when you nail a very risky tactic. Compelling, rewarding, satisfying. My two cents for the devs: - You did a great job - it's an amazing game. But here are my issues with the game: - Jumping or throwing bodies from upstairs can become very unintuitive. I didn't look up anything on Youtube except to get a particular badge at the end of the last mission (you know what I mean). - Why shadow mode only supports only 1 input for each character? Why can't I just queue several orders to be executed side to side by the same character? - I'm always against achievements (and in this case badges) which restricts you from using some mechanics of the game. Sure, it's a challange, but challange can be other than "Don't use Aiko's disguise" or "Don't select Mugen". Why? Why restrict the fun? Otherwise, an excellent game. 98/100
