If you liked Commandos or if you are into stealth games, this is a gem. It gives you time to plan and coordinate actions between characters. The story is great! The atmosphere is perfect! Loved it very much.
I just completed the game and i truly enjoyed it. I am a big fan of the old Commandos games and this game managed to scratch the same itch. The levels were a bit smaller and the lack of interior levels is a shame however they were all pretty unique and had their own themes or gameplay features and they looked pretty nice. The game also manages to have a decent difficulty curve which added to my enjoyment of the levels.
The game have only five characters and even though i of course would have prefered there to be more of them with inventory and items you could activate they are still enough to make the game work. Each character feels pretty unique and each have their own use. Something that shocked me is that the games story is pretty good and the characters are actually quite endearing.
But overall i really liked the game and my problems with the game are not really problems and more that i wish that there would be more of it. I should probably mention though that the game is pretty cpu heavy and it is one of the few games that have made my cpu get a bit hot. I would recommend the game to anybody with an interest in this criminally underused genre and i think that it is a pretty good start for anyone who wants to try the genre out.
I discovered Shadow Tactics really randomly. I didn't even knew the game existed before seeing a live video from a specialised website. When I first saw this video I said "this game looks kinda cool but eh a bit expensive". How wrong I was. The game is worth every cent he cost. I liked Commandos years ago. Now I LOVE Shadow Tactics. It's beautiful, the characters are well written, and it's hard in the good way. We can clearly see that MiMiMi made their game with passion and the love of this type of games.
Shadow Tactics came from the shadow, no one was expecting it and, I guess, not many people knows it even exists. It's an injustice we need to fix.
TL;DR : I enjoy every second I play this game.
I didn't hear anything about the game before it came out. It's really great game aside from few minor issues for example sometimes my character jumps of the building even though i don't see the ground from the angle that i'm in and also the information on the screen that the game can look like it froze is kind of for me. I would rather always want to see something moving on the loading screen instead of this message.
But all of this is really minor. The gameplay is great, music is nice, Voice acting in English is decent and Japanese voice acting is great. I really appreciate that the developer implemented Japanese voice acting.
The best thing about the game is that it has extensive demo version and it helped me greatly in my purchase decision.
Keep up the god work developers and I recommend the game to every tactical rpg fan.
This game is pretty similar to Commandos. I spend around 40 hours to finish the game, and let me say I had pretty good moments and I couldn't avoid to fall in love with Yuki mechanics and character.
I was thinking japanese things wouldn't hook me, how wrong I was. This game is really well done, and feel solid. It has lot of support for differents devices (like eye tracking, or a good gamepad implementation), and I didn't miss any QoL feature. The music is pretty good too, it creates that magic ambience.
I got this for free, because to be honest, I would never purchase a tittle like this one. But after finishing the game, I'm thinking into purchase Aiko's Choose (the second part of this game), which is DRM free avaliable here in GOG.
The only thing I'd say it fails, it's in its replay value. After suffering a lot in some levels, I would never think into play them again. Achivements do not add enough replay value for me, but they are welcome.
And again, I'm a Yuki fan :)
