Absolutely love this game

Amazing strategy, perfect acting, simply a phenomenal game. One of my favorites for sure, and has great replayability. Figuring out the puzzles and timing is really great. If you liked the old Commandos series, this is far better and works great with modern systems. The graphics and cutscenes are beautiful too. It's pretty clean, too: there are a few adult situations, a small amount of swearing, some skimpy outfits, and a self-harm situation. (I wish I could say the same about its successor Desperados 3, but that game had actually worse acting and a whole ton of sketchy stuff that was unsuitable for kids.) I really, really enjoyed playing this.. three times. HIGHLY recommended, definitely in my top ten favorite games of all time.

Tactic fiddlers rejoice

Paid 40€ and did not regret a single cent. No idea if I can see my total time but I guess it was about 30 hours? The few negatives I felt: - Hearing the same music over and over again gets boring - Camera angles suck in some levels, especially if there is big elevation differences involved. - The loading times are really annoying. Play 5 seconds, get seen, load 20 seconds. - The pacing of the cutscenes was videogames standard, very awkward and boring. I found myself clicking to skip the audio a lot. - Sometimes I got annoyed by the pixel hunting but only rarely. The positives are hard to list! I liked the style, the gameplay, the controls, the setting(s), all the various specialities of the levels (snow, night, rain!). I fully recommend this if you are intrigued. Play on the highest skill level straightaway, you won't regret it!

Outclasses the classics

First game I ever played on my first PC was Desperados. Then I played robin hood legend of sherwood and loved it as well. And then commandos..and then suddenly that entire subgenre got really bad and then disappeared completely. Fast forward 10+ years and here comes shadow tactics and completely outclasses all those classics. I REALLY HOPE FOR A SEQUEL + setting...feudal japan and samurais are simply awesome + looks beautiful + music..nothing too memorable but fits perfectly + story and characters...and a very emotional moment I did not expect + gameplay. Mix of strategy, tactics and stealth + nice level variety - some levels (mostly last one) just seem impossible to improvize Overall 9/10 amazing game that basically no one played. Get on it people

Great game - sometimes annoying commands

Pretty generic tho good story and nice character interaction. The many upsides are already noted in other reviews - I would have given it a 5* if the controls were crisp to the point. But I got annoyed by bugging commands, overlaping interactions and sometimes annoying camera angels. Still a great Commandos'esque game - I do recommend it (got it with 75% discount, a must have then).

Amazing stealth game

Shadow Tactics is a tactical stealth game that's a bit different from action oriented stealth games (such as MGS series, Batman Arkham series, etc.). The game requires clever use of various game mechanics in order to get through the game, and is an amazing stealth game, overall. Pros: - The stealth parts are like puzzles and you need to be clever and creative in order to get through the game. It's a nice change of pace from many stealth games where you're Big Boss or Batman, who can just mindlessly brute force your way through. - Shadow mode is a feature where the player programs the party to perform certain actions in order to create a customized team attack. This allows the characters to do some amazing things that are otherwise impossible to accomplish alone. - The missions are very fun and varied, with many optional things to do. Cons: - You cannot lock the camera onto the character. Even when you press down, it'll constantly unlock instead of following the character. - You can't just use the right analog stick to rotate the camera like almost all other 3D games. You have to hold RT in order to rotate the camera. This is clunky since it goes against just about every 3D game out there. - You can only use characters assigned to the mission. I would have loved to be able to play all characters in all missions after beating the game.
