At the very heart of Septerra lies the Core, a huge Biocomputer. Seven continents at different elevations, each with its own unique people and culture, orbit around the Core.
According to an ancient prophecy, Septerra's continents will one day converge and join in orbit together on one level - this is the Legacy of Marduk, the Creator's son. The Chosen, fanatical believers in the supremacy of their own wisdom and technology, impatiently try to force the issue - causing a global catastrophe which threatens the lives of all Septerreans.

Meanwhile, amongst the Junkers, a young woman named Maya gets caught up in the developing maelstrom and soon finds herself confronted by seemingly insurmountable problems. Without help she stands no chance of fulfilling the Prophesy before Septerra perishes. But whom can she trust in a world torn by war and treacherous intrigue - a world on the edge of the abyss?

Fun enough! Levers ahoy!

This is a good game with an interesting combat system. Its pretty fun, and very original, at least in my opinion. It's got good graphics that have aged..decently enough aside from the close up speaking portions. It does suffer a bit from repetitiveness. Especially when you are exploring and enemies re spawn every time you enter/exit a room, as well as some from lack of direction, not knowing where to go. Also: I hope you like lever puzzles. You certainly won't run out of them in this game.

A chance meeting

I found this game by chance in a food store in Nicaragua sometime in 2003, and just went for it. The game features a large cast of unforgettable characters with some nice JRPG style combat with a twist. The story is also suitably quirky and well realised. Just randomly finding this game blew me away, and I have since passed it on to all my RPG fan friends who have unanimously enjoyed it.

Good premise, mediocre execution

The games setting and premise are great, but it suffers from pretty poor execution. The biggest hurdle to get past is the poor narration- lots of interesting turns to the the story, but almost everything interesting that will happen will happen off screen. Battles are fought, fleets wiped out, pirates sack cities, etc and you get to hear about it later in a few throw-away lines from some NPC. This fractured narration often means you have no idea what to do next. You succeed in some mission and are left high-and-dry, so you revisit every NPC in the game in the hopes something has changed somewhere. The combat ranges from decent to downright poor. Whole battles are fought against creatures that spend most of the fight limping toward you. The magic system starts off fairly worthless but mid-game becomes so powerful that difficulty goes away entirely.

Protracted battles

I bought this game back in the day, but never finished it. Compared to most JRPGs, battles just seemed to take forever due to all the slow animations. If you can get past that, you may find something you like, but I just didn't have the patience.
