Description
Combining an atmospheric, psychological thriller narrative with paranormal psychic abilities, stealthy exploration and intense shooter action, Second Sight brings a new dimension to stealth action games, giving players control of a character endowed with incredible psychic abilities. The game offers multiple approaches to completing levels either via stealth, dramatic gunplay, psychic powers or a combination of all three. The ability to psychically influence characters and remotely manipulate objects and individuals provides for a totally fresh gameplay dynamic.

Second Sight opens with John Vattic, the player-controlled lead character, as he awakens from a coma in a US medical facility where he has been subjected to traumatic surgery and experimentation. He doesn't know his name, he can't remember his past, all he knows is that his only hope for survival is to escape and unravel the mystery that has led to his imprisonment.

  • Blockbuster dual-timeline story mixing stealth and action gaming
  • Unravel the mystery of why John Vattic has been imprisoned
  • Journey from the depths of top-secret research bunkers to the desolate wastelands of Siberia
  • 7 awesome psychic abilities: Telekinesis, Healing, Charm, Psi Attack, Psi Blast, Projection & Possession
  • Bend reality to your will with fully interactive ‘ragdoll’ physics
  • Mix psychic powers, firearms and stealth for multiple solutions to every situation

One of the best Telekinesis games

The game is excellent I played through it on the Gamecube however although the GOG version is the best PC version out there it still has some issues worth mentioning. Telekinesis in third person (left stick) cam rotation is too slow. Targeting with left stick and holding item, turning left or right sends the cam continiously in that direction until you centre it. While holding the left stick and pulling back with the right stick to throw an item is too slow, you never get the full power of the throw, this action with the mouse feels a little off too as pushing forward with the mouse to throw objects moves the cam upward for a moment. You can edit the games .cfg file to speed up the first-person mode aiming but there doesn't seem to be away to edit the cam rotation speed despite changing the cam rotate variable. Graphically the GC version (with dolphin) is the same as the PC version it also runs at 60fps but the PC version is slightly less colorful to the GC version and also lacks bloom, the GC seems to overuse the bloom effect on walls and surfaces so it appears to look better (lightning) at parts that it is not overused, this might be a preference for most though. while the gog version is patched for widescreen the games cutscences are still stretched and the games HUD appears to be too small, also the hud was not patched. The dolphin version with the gekko widescreen patch fixes the widecreen issue and also retains widescreen in the cutscenes but also stretches the HUD (energy bars, title of loctaions etc) but at least it's not tiny like the PC version. Recommend for PC if you want to it try out Mouse and Keyboard, I recommend for console if you like using controllers.

Free Radical always had a way with action games, this may be consoley but if you can tolerate that it is a great port and a ton of fun. Variety of interesting powers, a compelling story, and length enough to satisfy.

A great and interesting game

I remember playing the demo for this game a couple of years ago. For some reason I never picked it up until now, and I'm very happy that I did. Second Sight is simply a really cool game. It runs very well, looks pretty good and is very immersive. The storyline and character design is great and it keeps you interested. The only bad thing I can think of is the camera, it can be a bit annoying at first. Also, the first level is pretty difficult, at least if you want to play it "properly". It takes a bit of trial and error to figure everything out. In the end it's a very good game, one which I definitely recommend.

Excellent mix of gameplays.

The game is an excellent mix between Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (about having psychic powers in modern age) and Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason (as in the ability to change the present by changing the past in flashbacks)! An amazing mix of themes. Very interesting overall story, which unfolds pretty well too, keeping you stimulated about what will happen next. Also, the aforementioned games are two (not so old) cult games that GOG should bring.

Great stealth game with superpowers

Second Sight is a stealth shooter game where you play as psychic John Vattic, imprisoned and amnesiac. Little by little memories start to come back, usually involving flashbacks, where him and his team are on a mission to infiltrate a Russian scientist's top secret base. In the present, he tries to deal with the aftermath of the mission while new secrets start revealing themselves. The highlight of this game are the superpowers. Some seem to be geared towards stealth, like charm and possession. While some others are for combat like telekinesis and psi blast, as well as a healing power. I recommend playing stealth though, its more thrilling and combat can be difficult due to the clunky lock-on mechanic. Better to sneak past enemies or tranq them in silence. I had a really great time trying various stealth methods, took quite longer than it should. The only thing I didn't really like is the saving. It relies on checkpoints, but luckily not that bad since they are quite plenty. What I'm not a fan of is the fact that you cannot resume after exiting. Your checkpoint only works while you're in that session. One time I lost progress on a level because of a power outage. A quicksave/quickload system would be perfect, but not really needed. Overall, I think Second Sight is worth a try if you like stealth games. Many people say its kinda similar to Metal Gear Solid, and despite only playing MGSV I can kinda see it. I like how the game allows you to stealth and not really enforcing combat due to the controls, and whenever you're in a combat-mandatory level you're usually not alone or have good weapons.
