Samorost 2

music 'unsilenceable' is very annoying. For the rest, 5+ stars.

If you've finished the first one and the demo of this one, you are basically buying 5 extra minutes of gameplay. The Puzzles are good, not too easy, not too "out there", visually the game is very unique and charming. It costed me 1.59€ on a promotion so I can't really say they haven't earned every cent, specially if you want to thank them for Samorost 1. But seriously, unless you loved the first one, go play Machinarium instead, the puzzles are just as good and the game takes a lot longer to finish, the longevity of this game is revolting.

Short and unintuitive (I had to check a walkthrough 3 times), but I love the art and vibe and it includes the soundtrack album, so I'm content.

Pick this up for nostalgic reasons only. Their asking price of 4.99€ is still too high only get it on sale (I picked it up for 1.99€ and for this price it is somewhat reasonable but again only for nostalgic reasons). If I compare it to that right now I can pick up the whole original thief triology for about 3€ these 2€ spend on a 30min game are again somewhat hard to justify It is short. The whole game is done in about 30min. The gameplay is only finding where to klick and figure out in what order you need to klick. It is a nice introduction to Samarost 3. Samarost 3 is way better as are other games from Amanita desgin (like machinarium). Really only pick this up when you are a diehard fan or have some fond nostalgic memories.

One can tell this is an early game from promising developers, and for what it's worth, it isn't the worst thing in the world. The characters and art design make the whole thing very compelling, and that's good because the story is shallow, the UI is garbage, and the puzzles are unintuitive and frustrating. This game is about an hour long; guess how many times I had to consult a walkthrough. FIVE times! I am not a dumb person; this game makes me *feel* dumb. Too much pixel-hunting. Too many timing-based puzzles. No freedom of movement. Too much having to guess what the developers were thinking. AND a contantly barking dog! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! (Seriously, I will take Baby Mario over that dog anyday.) I will fully admit I didn't even finish this game because I will be d****d if I do that awful, awful, AWFUL balloon puzzle again. Amanita Design has made better games since. Go find one.
