Samorost 2

This is a one hour short game. It's a point and click in a weird universe. Visuals are quite unique and i really like the sound design. In Simple, light and funny. The story isn't complicated : you have to find your dog. No big question, no philosophy or so. Just a cute little quest without pretension. You will have to solve smalls riddles (some are more intuitive than others). There is no much more to tell. If you like the artistic and this kind of game direction go for it, otherwise don't bother. Some Blackspot : at some point in the game i pressed echap modifying the game resolution resulting all sort of bugs, the game was near unplayable. I recommand you restart the game to solve this.

Amanita Design second chapter in the Samorost series and, after fallen in love with the original game I got for free in its remastered beauty, I felt I should have the entire series. Samorost 2 is an adventure game in “point and click” style with a cosmic gnome as the main character and its small dog as partner. The gameplay is smooth, relaxing and easy to go through; hardly you’ll get stuck in the same scenario too long and even if the whole game is about one and half hour, it will the funniest way to spend it. Thank you Amanita Design for this piece of art in gaming development and its enhanced graphics with full-screen support (not completely compatible with large three-display setups). And now it is the turn to play Samorost 3.

The game has a few irritating flaws, but it's fraught with charm and very kid-friendly without being obnoxious. Once again the pajama-clad space gnome goes on an adventure, this time to rescue his kidnapped dog. From cracking the impenetrable fortress of the dognappers to figuring out the perfect brew to wake a lazy cabbie, the puzzles are a good blend of clever cuteness and head-scratching loonie logic.

Samorost 2 is gorgeously whimsical. From the character designs and animations to the landscapes that range from what appears to be grunge sewers to a Lewis Carrol like forest. The narrative, to rescue your stolen dog, is formulaic at the beginning but the 2nd half of the game, the struggle to return home, leads the story away from the classic archetypes into it's own moments of brilliance. The best thing about Samorost 2 is that it also doesn't have ridiculous puzzles, as with so many flash or adventure "point n click" games. Samorost makes sense, which was refreshingly original. It isn't long which is the biggest flaw, but it is most definitely worth a purchase!

This game is overall beautiful and cute. It's an accessible point-and-click game with great art and that won't take long to finish. It should be considered more of an intro to Samorost 3 because it is very short... PROS: - Great artwork. - Simple yet good story. - Puzzles are ok. CONS: - Short. - It's a Flash game (for those allergic to Flash). - The game crashes when attempting to load the final cutscene. Fortunately, you can watch it individually by going into the game folder and looking for the file containing the final cutscene. I don't know if this is just me but it wasn't a big issue anyway. Recommended game overall, I can't wait to play Samorost 3 now...
