Everything great about the USA

All the other reviews accurately describe this game as the finest of the LucasArts point and click adventures. Great puzzles, humor, music, etc... I'm writing this review to just add one more point: This game is a window into the most awesome thing about America - the absolute crazy shit you will find if you go off the beaten path and just explore. I suspect many of the non American users on this site may not realize that many locations in the game are real places or parodies of real places. Snuckeys (Stuckeys is the real roadside chain store), Gator Golf, Frog Rocks all over the place. The Mystery Vortex (it's in Oregon) & the World's Largest Ball of Twine (actually in Minnesota). Bumpusville is a parody of Graceland. Sure, Mt. Rushmore doesn't actually have dinosaur tar pits, and although there isn't a celebrity vegetable museum, I have found all sorts of weird celebrity museums and exhibits, including one with celebrities made out of butter. Playing this game is like reliving a slightly exaggerated version of what it was like as a kid going on a family vacation in the early 1980's.

A timeless CLASSIC!!

This game is Lucas Arts at their peak. It made me love the word "Lagomorph." A comic adventure, with musical numbers, that is entertaining all the way through. If you have ever enjoyed point and click adventures, you owe it to your self to play this one. And after you fall in love with these characters, GOG has the Telltale Games series too. Steve Purcell, et al, be praised!!

One of my favorite LucasArts titles!

Sam & Max really go full out with the humor and that's what making the game enjoyable imo. It got interesting and quirky characters, the various environments are fun to explore and nothing really feels like repetitions or chores. Finding Bruno the Bigfoot seems like a simple storyline but there also seems to be a deeper message hidden somewhere in the game. Or is there? Eitherway, this adventure of Sam & Max is what you're definitely expect when wanting to play a LucasArt game, it got it all! Gameplay-wise it's creative with its puzzle, adding lots of fun animations, but I have to admit that it took some time getting used to "the SCUMM wheel" of choosing action. It wasn't also really clear in the conversations what each icon actually did. However, Hit the Road really hits home and is a must play for any LucasArts fan :D

Masterpiece

Comedy writing is tough. Stand-up and comedy films work because of a combination of written and visual humor and comedic timing. When you take out the human element and are forced to rely on the writing, it can be a crapshoot. How many books or games have made you laugh out loud solely based on dialogue? This game does. Sam and Max is REALLY funny. That alone makes it unique among point and clicks. And I don't mean just a chuckle here and there. There were times playing this game where I nearly cried laughing. Add to that a bunch of well designed puzzles and an intriguing story, and you can't get much better. Seriously.
