Sam & Max Hit the Road

I have loved this game for more than 30 years. Obviously you control Sam the dog/irish wolfhound and have your little buddy Max the rabbit/lagomorph. It is your typical point and click adventure game. This game has lots of hilarious things in it. This is my favorite SCUMM based game, you cannot die or get permanently stuck so you can try anything you want. Though you cannot be defeated this game isn't easy without a walkthrough. There is parts that require timing and also sometimes you may know what you are supposed to do but are unsure how to make it work. As with any point and click game try to pick up everything you find and talk to everybody you can. Also talk to Max, he sometimes has clues. How does a dog and bunny afford a 1960 Desoto?

What an entertaining and absurd point-and-click adventure. This game will keep you smiling and giggling throughout. The dialogue is clever, and the chemistry between the main characters is spot-on. It reminded me of the old animated shows I used to watch on Cartoon Network—full of bizarre scenarios and exaggerated humour. Even though I’m not familiar with other Sam & Max media, the game still evoked a nostalgic feeling. Some puzzles were genuinely challenging, as is typical in the genre. The alligator and golf puzzle, for example, gave me a tough time, as did the final puzzle of the game. But the difficulty never detracted from the fun. If other Sam & Max games maintain this level of wackiness and sharp writing, I’ll be sure to play them eventually.

I like click adventures for, oh, about 50% of the game before getting bored and moving on to something more action oriented. I've played through to the end of this game twice. If that doesn't sum it all up, I'm not sure what does. Hands down the best adventure game I've ever played.

A hilarious adventure game, the best outside of Sierra and Steve Meretsky and a great example of how humor and imagination can liven up a game. It is filled with clever puzzles, hilarious jokes, colorful settings, weird characters, plot twists, and a great sense of adventure and mystery. Players are treated with respect: No hand-holding, no flashing messages showing you everything--all is left for you to discover. Almost everything in this game is perfect: There are a few times where the characters move too slowly, but otherwise, this is a near-perfect masterpiece. I know that the Super Star Wars series and Zombies Ate My Neighbors are console games, but is there any hope of getting them here? They really are excellent games that P.C. gamers should be able to experience.
