No longer DRM free
Since the last update, the game is no longer DRM free. Very disappointed, after all, this was the sole reason why I got it on GOG instead of other platforms.

Not the SR IV you are looking for
Unfortunately, GOG has chosen to allow publishers to take away games that we've purchased (for instance, Saint's Row IV: Game of the Century Edition, which ran fine on my potato laptop) and replace them with things we definitely did not purchase (Saint's Row IV: Re-Elected, an unimproved, buggy down-grade that laughs mockingly at older rigs). Cannot in good conscience recommend a game that is demonstrably worse for retro gamers, as it is now 11 years old but requires a much more recent setup to play.

Runs on Linux, old version gone
I bought this game on sale in 2017, also as a gift to a friend. The old version has been quietly replaced and without consent on both accounts by the new "re-elected" update version that requires an Epic account now even for Single player. You need to be online to log in to your account now. I quick installed this on my Linux-Laptop to see what has changed and whether it runs at all now: - I can confirm it runs under Linux (I used Heroic Games Launcher and a Wine GE-Proton version 7.34) - It will prompt you to install some Wine-tricks as well as an Epic overlay - after that it launched without issues but it does require logging in to an Epic account now even in single-player - never was I asked nor agreed to an update to my version of 2017. I would have liked to keep that old version especially knowing how Epic acts and treats Linux. I don't want extra launchers after the fact - Nowhere was I asked, whether I want to install the old version or the new re-elected. There are also no install files left to choose from for installing the old version. The old version is GONE. (if you haven't downloaded and saved the install files before the unasked update on December 2022, there is no access to it anymore. You need to get it through some "other means") - I would have liked to have "options" and be asked
