This open-world action thriller takes you through the seedy streets of Paris as you seek to undermine the German authority and lead a rebellion. Fight across rooftops and through dangerous alleys, and operate a wide variety of vehicles as you navigate your terrain. You can even climb the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral for a sniping mission.
Use stealth and disguise to strike at the heart of the Nazi war machine by disabling trains, destroying bridges, and blowing up enemy facilities. As you work to remove the oppressive forces from parts of the city, the drab black-and-white palette gives way to bright colors, signifying that you’ve inspired the townspeople. The more you incite the people, the more they’ll aid you by intervening in fights or providing a quick getaway from pursuing Germans. The Saboteur presents a fresh take on World War II and features dramatic cinematic elements. The action and intrigue is yours to experience via download on the PC now.

This piece of gem feels like a mix of GTA & Assasin's Creed and i love it. As i do love it's film noir style, it's free roam around Paris, it's quests, it's story, it's graphics, it's gameplay, it's soundtrack, it's sound levels, it's bombing feelingl! This game is an underrated perfection. Thank you GoG for resurrecting this game! Do not hesitate to buy this game.
If you use an Xbox controller when you accelerate and brake in vehicles the camera spins too. Truly annoying and game breaking unless you use KB/M. If that was fixed 5 stars.
Okay, so I've never heard of this game before (I don't know, how it could be), but this is a real secret gem!
Gameplay wise, it's like Just Cause (or GTA, but due to the LOTS of desctructible objects, which essentially gives you money, I think it's more close to JC) with some wall climbing elements and stealth from AC - in the unique setting of Paris in the WW2 era. This game still has nice graphics (the city landscapes looks fantastic, and those zeppelins in the sky... damn!), and the music is just awesome: I'm actually listening to it outside of the game, too.
One of the other great aspects is that the map (which consists of the streets of Paris, and also some countryside) has districts, where the Nazi occupied areas are grayscale with some red (and sometimes blue and yellow) accents, and the reoccupied areas are colorful. Great idea!
The protagonist is also really good (and this is where GTA4 and 5 was fell short for me): an Irish guy with funny and cool dialogues, whether it's during story time or just random sayings, e.g. when you honk on some pedestrians.
Unfortunately, there are some downsides. The greatest of them is that this game is clearly not finished: after a big action sequence and a "Mission Accomplished" message, there are simply just no more mission markers. There are some minor issues, like the phisycs (or lack of) of cars, or the far from great controls during wall climbing (I've died a lot of times, because I thought I could jump on and catch a cable, but I couldn't), but I really missed the end of the story :(
Nevertheless, it gives you 20+ hours of great fun, which absolutely makes worth your time and money!
The reviews make this game seem right up my alley, so I grabbed it when it was on sale. I'm returning it now.
The game's controls are not very precise. I constantly had to adjust back and forth, as cars would oversteer, Sean would turn too far or not far enough. The camera is quite jumpy when it follows these moves (it seems like you can basically only turn/walk in pre-defined amounts, i.e. not very precisely and the camera follows suit.
Turns out this game was primarily made for consoles with a basically non-existent save system even though it constantly tells you that you can save at any time in the pause menu it then tells you that you will loose all progress. While there are checkpoints within the mission that wouldn't be half bad, I want to be able to save that progress at least. I don't know when I will be able to play and for how long, so if I loose progress just because I had to go do something else, that just adds to the frustration.
Nag: While by itself this would be something to just work around once and forget about it, it's impossible to customize the controls. While the game allows you to choose custom keys, it simply tells you that a key is already in use and won't reassign. You have to manually find that action and assign another key temporarily to then be able to assign the key you wanted. I wanted to like the game and finally set out to actually remap all the keys today but it just got so tedious that after the other experiences with the game I decided to return it. It all adds up. Don't frustrate the gamer. Help him enjoy your game!
For what it's worth, the graphics are still nice, even for being an older game, nice ambient music and voice acting create a great atmosphere but I just couldn't go on try to enjoy this because the controls and save system just won't make it fun for me.
