Description
Not all wars are fought on the open battlefield. Download The Saboteur to visit 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, as you play tough Irish racecar mechanic Sean Devlin. Working with the French Resistance, Sean is out for revenge against ruthless Nazi Colonel Kurt Dierker, who executed Sean’s best friend.

This open-world action thriller takes you through the seedy streets of Paris as you seek to undermine the German authority and lead a rebellion. Fight across rooftops and through dangerous alleys, and operate a wide variety of vehicles as you navigate your terrain. You can even climb the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral for a sniping mission.

Use stealth and disguise to strike at the heart of the Nazi war machine by disabling trains, destroying bridges, and blowing up enemy facilities. As you work to remove the oppressive forces from parts of the city, the drab black-and-white palette gives way to bright colors, signifying that you’ve inspired the townspeople. The more you incite the people, the more they’ll aid you by intervening in fights or providing a quick getaway from pursuing Germans. The Saboteur presents a fresh take on World War II and features dramatic cinematic elements. The action and intrigue is yours to experience via download on the PC now.

Key features:

  • First Ever Open-World Paris — Climb the Eiffel Tour, snipe from Notre Dame Cathedral, and brawl on the Champs d’Elysee as you sabotage your enemies. Fight, climb, and prowl through the dark alleys, rooftops, burlesque houses, and seedy streets of the City of Lights — the ultimate playground for the Saboteur.
  • The Art of Sabotage — Being the Saboteur is all about attacking while staying unnoticed. Get your mission intel at underground clubs and cabarets. Eliminate your adversaries with stealth attacks, disguise, distractions, and explosives. Master a variety of weapons, automobiles, and skills to sabotage enemy operations.
  • The Will to Fight — An action-packed experience and thrilling storyline are made even more engaging by an innovative visual style, characters, and the new “Will to Fight” technology. Experience how the city reacts and changes around you as you free it from Nazi oppression. Only you can restore hope and grandeur to Paris.
  • French Resistance Strikes — Call for support from The Underground in the form of getaway cars, weapon deliveries, distractions, and much more.

Playing with an XBox One controller.

I loved this game in the past. There was no other where you could play as an underground member during World War 2, especially in German occupied France. I used to own a copy for XBox 360, but since updating to XBox One X, I've been locked out of playing this game, until now. I purchased it and it plays great so far on my Windows 10 PC. I did encounter one problem though, since I use an XBox One Wireless Controller for gaming. The trigger commands for accelerating and braking in a vehicle acted the same as turning right or left while walking. I found the solution, for me at least, is editing the "InputTemplates.txt" file, contained the the game's directory at the following location... c:GOG Gamesthe SaboteurInputTemplates.txt Their are 4 sections within the file, one for DEFAULT, one for ALTERNATE, and one for 360 CONTROLLER, and one for OTHER GAMEPAD. The 360 CONTROLLER is for using an XBox 360 controller with your PC, but I've got an XBox One controller, so the game tries using the OTHER GAMEPAD section. First off, so you don't lose the original file, make a copy and move it to another folder, or rename it. Then edit the "InputTemplates.txt" file as follows. To fix my issues, I copy and pasted the control 360 CONTROLLER section to the OTHER GAMEPAD section, overwriting all the original text in the OTHER GAMEPAD section. My game now plays using an XBox One wireless controller bluetooth-linked to my PC.

A Modern Two-Fisted Tale

I came across Pandemic via the Mercenaries series, and wished I could play the original Saboteur. So thank God it's back. The game itself is solid on all mechanics, from the fighting to the perks to the missions and their place in the game setting. The use of Paris and the surrounding countryside are the perfect place for such a sprawling game world, but to me that's all effectively tied together with the story. The game isn't trying to be exactly historically accurate, but goes with a rather Indiana Jones approach: Nazis are clear bad guys, you're a rough-and-tumble fighter with a hat and jacket, get to fighting. With femme fatales, a resistance filled with characters, and plenty of destruction to wreak, you're only bored if you limit yourself. It also doesn't take itself too seriously, which is a good indication that Pandemic's people knew their game was going to have some goofy moments and they wanted the player to join in. Some mechanics are clunky. The disguise mechanic does make sense with the Gestapo agents and generals but doesn't quite add when it comes to the common goons. The driving is a little loose and tricky, but it doesn't break the game. Overall, this is a game that fit with the generation it came from, and personally I consider it a close competitor to the Ubisoft titles and knows not to take itself seriously. Compared to Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed, the creative team knew they were making a fun time killer and threw in enough to make it enjoyable. Well worth the time and price, and certainly a good reason why more Pandemic titles should be considered for GOG.

A great buggy open world game

This game gives me a Medal of Honor Allied Assault / Frontline feeling with some Sniper Elite 1 seriousness. In my opinion this game is better than any modern open world UBISOFT game. You play as an Irish mechanic who drives with his friends (french friends?) from a village in France to Germany to start his racing career. The best in the tournerment is a German who I guess also is the main antagonist... He makes your live hard at the start of the game and the war starts.... You get involved in the french resistance becuase [censored]... I wish this game design would be used in new Sniper Elite games because I rather prefer the realistic aproche in the first SE game. Since a lot of years I realize that more realistic games give me more fun except its like stupid fun in Serious Sam or COD 1 / Brothers in Arms. Bugs are a problem. It crashes when opening menus. Gladly it saves directly after mission with a quicksave. When pressing STATS it crashed. Cars can spawn in an area and block everything. Ghost cars... and more I just bought it 1 day ago so I cant say much more but THIS HOW GAMES NEED TO BE -> just basic. If a dev studio is new or just bad dont try to do the biggest game - just try basic things like Return To Castle Wolfenstein and then add mechanics after it feels good. I play it in 4k with a 1070 TI and it is just nice. I guess this game should be played on a CRT in 480p because this game is the first open world game (gta 4 has bad LOD or just a small world) that has near endless view range. The detail drops but you can spot towers and other objects to destroy from far away. Why did I recommend a CRT paired with a 970 for example? It is because the horizon of the sky and the horizon of the smoke or ground are different colors. You can find many old tricks from the bast but this game handles 4k sooo well without any problems.

Somehow Assassins Creed, but different

And it's up to you to assassinate your enemies stealthly, snipe them or to simply blow to bits. Open world, climbing on buildings, driving cars throughout paris and France. Graphics, landscape (including paris monuments), sound and atmosphere are great, even 10 years after game release. I enjoyed the game from beginning to the end. I just wonder if anybody ever used non-nudity-mode ;-) Only draw back were constant game crashs. But they can be prevented changing video settings. Windowmode, Shadows off, frame rate max, ...
