Description
Not all wars are fought on the open battlefield. Download The Saboteur to visit 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, as you play tough Irish racecar mechanic Sean Devlin. Working with the French Resistance, Sean is out for revenge against ruthless Nazi Colonel Kurt Dierker, who executed Sean’s best friend.

This open-world action thriller takes you through the seedy streets of Paris as you seek to undermine the German authority and lead a rebellion. Fight across rooftops and through dangerous alleys, and operate a wide variety of vehicles as you navigate your terrain. You can even climb the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral for a sniping mission.

Use stealth and disguise to strike at the heart of the Nazi war machine by disabling trains, destroying bridges, and blowing up enemy facilities. As you work to remove the oppressive forces from parts of the city, the drab black-and-white palette gives way to bright colors, signifying that you’ve inspired the townspeople. The more you incite the people, the more they’ll aid you by intervening in fights or providing a quick getaway from pursuing Germans. The Saboteur presents a fresh take on World War II and features dramatic cinematic elements. The action and intrigue is yours to experience via download on the PC now.

Key features:

  • First Ever Open-World Paris — Climb the Eiffel Tour, snipe from Notre Dame Cathedral, and brawl on the Champs d’Elysee as you sabotage your enemies. Fight, climb, and prowl through the dark alleys, rooftops, burlesque houses, and seedy streets of the City of Lights — the ultimate playground for the Saboteur.
  • The Art of Sabotage — Being the Saboteur is all about attacking while staying unnoticed. Get your mission intel at underground clubs and cabarets. Eliminate your adversaries with stealth attacks, disguise, distractions, and explosives. Master a variety of weapons, automobiles, and skills to sabotage enemy operations.
  • The Will to Fight — An action-packed experience and thrilling storyline are made even more engaging by an innovative visual style, characters, and the new “Will to Fight” technology. Experience how the city reacts and changes around you as you free it from Nazi oppression. Only you can restore hope and grandeur to Paris.
  • French Resistance Strikes — Call for support from The Underground in the form of getaway cars, weapon deliveries, distractions, and much more.

An old problem this game has

Alright first review i've ever written, and going to put it bluntly. Don't purchase until an old problem is fixed, which is an error with initilizing graphics. This is a problem this game has also with the Origin version, which never ever buy that version if you own a newer computer they will never patch it. Gog will most likely fix this problem, but it essentially makes the game unplayable from the get go unless you fish around the internet which you have to do with the origin version. I never did it, and thought it was a bit meh, being that selling a game for 20 dollars that doesn't work on modern computer seems a bit erm, bad, bad from a business stand point, and seem like your spitting in the costumers face, which EA is pretty ok with, cause they're EA. Purchase now while on sale and wait a bit because this will probably be fixed soon, or wait until you know it has been fixed. I'll review again once I actually can play this game, which I was excited for because I've never been able to play it because the above, which the fix isn't as easy as finding a simple patch, it's hoops, and just a frustration. 3 stars because I know GOG will patch it actually unlike the company that made it and is selling on it's own store. Not a fan of them, or orgin, it's a terrible store front. Luckily we have gog, and it's their thing to make things work, because good company, good store.

Minor Faults? You sure about that?

Minor faults is all I hear in the echoes of these reviews. Must be the disease know as nostalgia as these are not minor but unbearable. Broken stealth is one of these "minor faults "everyone goes on about. Too bad that "minor fault" is incorporated into the main missions creating unnecessary frustration and reflecting bad mission design. Ridiculous wanted system that has enemies spawning from all directions giving you very little room to move about, but it's okay. There are hiding spots ... in which you can only access on roofs with a climbing function that's fabulously not smooth or fun to use , but that's just another "minor fault". You can just outrun them of course, except they all have the eyes of eagles and recognize you from god knows how far away. If you can endure all those "minor faults" that make the game a goddamn choir? Then you can find fun in just blowing things up while fighting a broken stealth system and a unbalanced wanted system. I can not and had to write this to break the echo chamber of everyone loving this game. Look up some playthroughs before buying. Other than that? Good day.

Please SOMEBODY make a SABOTEUR II

Have been playing this few years ago already, but it was AAA game ahead of it's time. Would be glad if some company would continue on the idea also raising the quality bar even further. Yes game had it's flaws , but in general I would add it to the all time top. Nice story, good gameplay and also I just loved the soundtrack! Somewhat close to MAFIA (the 1st one, more than GTA) but also has some elements from AC (like Wolfram_von_Thal mentioned).

Hidden gem

Glad I stumbled upon this during a dirt-cheap sale. EA has done such a good job burying this game I had forgotten it existed. If you like interesting open worlds or just have a fondness for the WWII genre, buy The Saboteur. No bugs and no crashes on Windows 10 either. I'm amazed how smooth this is. Critics slagged it off as an Assassin's Creed knock-off, but honestly that's the kind of drivel you should expect from game journalists. The map has less filler, and the collectibles and other features fit the plot. It makes a hell of a lot more sense raiding a nazi bunker for grenades or blowing up a fuel depot than it does chasing feathers or "animus fragments," but I digress. Not to mention the mechanics are better than Assassin's Creed because this game's controls are better suited for PC. Nice to see there isn't multiple functions binded to one key or any auto-aiming pistols.

A solid 4.5 stars

I came to "The Saboteur" utterly intrigued about the premise. An Irishman, helping the French resistance in World War II France, using a combination of "Grand Theft Auto" and "Assassin's Creed" mechanics? Sign me up! After starting to play, I was drawn in. It was a release every time I killed a Nazi, and by doing so saved a pedestrian from his terror. I was sneaking into bases, climbing and running and jumping around the rooftops of Paris, rushing down the country lanes of France, all the while keeping an eye open for a white dot that signified something that I'd like to blow to kingdom come. Now, almost forty hours in, there are one mechanic that is wearing on me. With the way the suspicion meter works, you could be behind barbed wire, five feet from a radar dish, and the Nazis wouldn't bat an eye. You could run ten pedestrians down in the streets, and they wouldn't care. You could be rushing through the streets of Paris in a stolen Nazi racecar, and they'll smile and let you through the checkpoints. Sean doesn't even change his pants when he puts on a disguise, and unless you're running they won't notice until they're right in your face. It makes the game much easier than it would have been for a real life saboteur. But that flaw aside, "The Saboteur" -- especially since its most recent patch, which fixed processor problems -- really is a great game. It draws you in with its dynamic black-and-white setting, then urges you to explore France and parts of Germany in your quest for vengeance. It is a solid 4.5 star game, and well worth playing.
