Little bit too easy

This game is a ton of fun, the visual design is striking and memorable with music that matches the gameplay perfectly but I just can't shake that the game was just way too easy. Still an excellent game and well worth the play.

Extreemly repetitive in every aspect

The promise was good. Dark cyberpunk metropolis, neon lights, implants and intriguing story. And all we've got was ""they've got my brotherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!" as a motivation, a footbal field sized "metropolis" with nothing to do, and arena fight-arena fight-arena with a bossfight. Heavy reuse of environments and bosses included. Dissapointed.

Promising but lackluster

I just can't enjoy the game. I tried many times but I just can't get myself to keep playing it. The controls are painfully bad, you can't adjust camera zoom and your vision range is very limited. Moving around feels very clunky and you need to aim very well to land your shots. The art is amazing if you like steampunk and the music and ambience is on point as well. That's what attracted me to the game and I've got to say that in that regard I was possitively surprised. The game is very linear both in gameplay and story wise (which is sad since it's marketed as "story-driven action"). There's not much to your character's evolution, just some abilities you can choose and distribute some points to but that's it. The good part is that at least the devs seem to care and solve questions and explain how are they trying to improve. That encouraged me to attempt to give the game another try but I didn't go much further before I got bored and frustrated. Still, will definitely keep an eye on future games because I think they have the right attitude and good potential.

Superb

Ruiner has neither the best story ever, nor much depth. Even so, it is among the greatest games ever made. Featuring streamlined combat mechanics and high difficulty, Ruiner punishes the casual and rewards the skilled player. Polished movement skills allow an adept player to overcome enemies at every difficulty, while clumsy or slow players will find themselves dying brutally, and receiving mockery from the game itself. These streamlined mechanics allow you to enjoy insane precision of techniques and get into the "zone" creating more fun for the talented player. Poor or casual players will hate this game. Quick witted players with reflexes, on the other hand, will struggle to find a title in a while that is as mechanically sound.

No polish

It looks cool with, has high difficulty and some replayability, but when your control scheme is bad and the keys are unbindable all the good things are irrelevant. 99% of the world is a static mesh with no interactions between the character and the surroundings other than opening chests and opening doors/gates. Theres isnt even an audio cue to imply hitting anything other than enemies. The visual radius around your character is too small so you can barely see any of great design the game has. The constant glitch/hack visual overlay starts to get really annoying after the fifth use, and using the recommended brightness makes for a very confusing navigation around the level. Also the optimization isnt that great either. i dont think i saw a difference between mid and low settings. But all of that could have been ignored if i had the chance to play it properly. I cant play comfortably neither on pad or key/mouse. i didnt even think games still came out with fixed controllschemes for both controllers and keyboards. also whats with the switch to diagonal movement when going through narrow places?
