Redshirt isn't going to appeal to everyone, but those who like the balancing act and resource management that go with management sims will find this is a solid game. There will be feelings of repetitiveness during the all too brief periods when you've managed to juggle everything into going well, and you'll find yourself just going through the motions to advance time until your next social or career crisis. Whilst you'll need to be a sci-fi fan to get a lot of the humour, this will actually be less important to your enjoyment of the game than a jaded view of the inanity appearing on your Facebook wall on a daily basis. To fans of turn-based management sims this is an entertaining insight into a future in which social networking rules every aspect of our lives rather than being a place just to quote song lyrics. Although, in Redshirt's vision of the future, people are still spending a lot of their time doing just that as well.

Bought today and have enjoyed schmoozing my way up the career ladder. Great idea and excellent satire of the shallowness of social media relationships. Running fine on Win 8.1

...I usually write reviews on my own...
...but in order to do that, a game has to hold my attention for 8 hours or be completed... this game bored me in 4... because there is NOTHING here. basically imagine a single player game about facebook with a star trek skin.... yeah it's about as exciting as that sounds. Avoid.

I bought it and played it!
Eternal summer seems to have finally made it to gog.com, since a bunch of fucking idiots seem to be one-star reviewing without having played the game. It's too bad, really. This is a fairly deep and complex game. It's similar in feel to Democracy, though less upfront about decision consequences. It seems like it will have greater replay value than similar games because of the aspirations aspect (a rolling list of three goals that give you good bonuses when you achieve them) which can affect the direction of your game. I have found myself quite addicted to this game and I'm glad I got it. Many indie games cost fifteen dollars, so why is it such a big deal that this one is 20? There was obviously a lot of work that went into this. I really like it.
