Redout: Solar Challenge Edition

Got it for free on Epic but it's too difficult to be fun. Level 1 tracks are fine, Level 2 tracks are ok on normal (the easy difficulty setting), Level 3 tracks are already a pain, you can still finish most of them but you cannot even get 1 error because the AI is too strong even on easy and Pure tracks with pipe are a no go. I only tried some level 4 tracks... not even a chance to win even full upgraded. I'm not really sure how some will beat this game... there are only 4 upgrade on the ship and 2 power ups that you cannot even use on Pure tracks... but even with all of them I'm not sure how can anybody win. I played a lot of hours, I was able to learn a lot of tracks with only my memory... even finish 3 round of the pipe track without falling (almost impossible but necessary since if you fall one time it will take too long to respawn) in less than 1 minute... but this game, to get the 3 place, ask you to do it in 50 seconds... The pipe thing (where you spin without even moving) it's another stupid difficult thing that make no sense. There is no way to exit on the floor without decellerate, but if you do that you will fail to reach the 3 place. I'm just glad I didn't pay for this.

Awesome racing game -challenging, good track design, great sense of speed, punchy colorful graphics, and a great soundtrack. I just wish they made other competitors during the race in "shadow / semi-transparent mode", since it's impossible to avoid hitting them at high speed. I got this game working on Linux (with occasional failed start, crash - wine 4 staging), however it would be nice if developers released this game officially on linux. :) Overall it's a great game, I highly recommend it. My favorite racing game, along with Screamer 2 and Split Second Velocity.

a good vibe of wipeout, i would say a bit better. good graphic, gameplay has some tricks, can be a bit too hard too. Anyway, it's among the few game i like since i'm getting older :)

Redout's speed is so blistering fast I always have the feeling I can barely keep my hoverplane on the track and 34BigThings did a good job on achieving this experience. This reminds me of a quote of a Formula 1 driver, who said: "If you are feeling you are in control you aren't going fast enough." Well in Redout you certainly are going fast enough. The controlscheme remind me of Episode One Racer and I think the game is best played with a twinstick controller because of that, at least that is what I used. In the beginning expect a lot of wallbanging until you become more skilled and get better gear but I consider wallbanging part of the hover racing experience. A minor gripe is that it comes with pre-configured gamepad controls, personally I like to edit my own controller configuration. The graphics look very good, maybe lacking in detail when stationary but when charging over the tracks at near Mach 1, who cares! The music is also very good and more importantly it fits the game, it's not on the same level as WipeOut's DnB soundtrack but hardly anything is so I can't hold that against it. To conclude if you like futuristic hover racers like WipeOut, F-Zero, Star Wars Episode One Racer you will like this.

I haven't felt this kind of a rush in a racing game since wipeout on the Sega Saturn back in the day. I usually lower the music on most games, but this game has tracks "music" that complement the racing tracks that are amazing and I found myself increasing the volume a few times, basically this game is a rush. play it with good headphones. I wonder what it would feel like if I toke something before I started playing again!?!?
