NEXT GENERATION AG RACING IS HERE!

Redout is a tribute to the classic racing monsters such as F-Zero, WipeOut, Rollcage, and POD. It is designed to be an uncompromising, fast, tough and satisfying driving experience, soaked in that vertigo that stands at the core of the arcade racing genre.

The floating system and driving models are based on physics: each turn, slope, hard braking, acceleration, each turn and twist of the track will apply a unique force to the ship.

A sharp low-polygon style blends meshes and terrains with the latest state-of-the-art shading and lighting effects provided by the Unreal Engine 4, creating beautiful and instantly recognizable aesthetics. Breezy coastlines, eerie frozen landscapes, vast desert plains: the melancholic, dystopian atmosphere of a semi abandoned Earth is the background for the most high-speed, tense and beautiful futuristic racing clashes.

This timed-exclusive for GOG, the Solar Challenge Edition, is the ultimate single player Redout experience featuring all released DLCs in a single package! You can now race on 12 diverse environments for a total of 60 tracks, plus their boss circuit! The career mode has been expanded to be the most complete possible!

SPEED

I heard about this game when TotalBiscuit did his video on it, picked it up on steam due to his reccomendation. I've actually been hoping this game would come to GOG, so thanks to everyone that helped with that. Don't expect a great story or a ton of depth, it's basically just a series of races, but those races are incredible fun. It starts quick as hell from the beggining, and only gets faster from there. As you play through the game, you start remembering certain corners on certain maps, and by the end of it you'll have the whole track nearly memorized. There's a good variety to the structure of how each one is laid out, and no two feel exactly the same. It's also worth mentioning that the game can crank 240 fps if your system can handle it. I have a 144hz monitor and the game looks amazing at that refresh rate Like I said earlier, it's basically just a series of races, but if you're into that sort of thing those races are absolutely worth the price Controller is recommended. It also appears as though the GOG version does not include the VR mode included in the steam version, at least from what I can tell. I don't own a headset myself, but still think it's noteworthy

Solar Challenge Edition

Solar Challenge Edition - Well that's new. The name implies this version includes at least the Space DLCs of the game, Mars, Neptune and Space Exploration. But in fact, it's even more than that. They say this version includes 60 tracks in 12 locations plus their respective boss tracks. This means, this doesn't just include some of the DLC. This includes all of it. This is a complete edition of Redout as far as I can tell. If the tide of DLC this game currently has on Steam was keeping you off, this is the version for you. The price is now fair enough even without the current sale. Redout is a fantastic futuristic racer and if you have any sort of interest in the genre, I'd really recommend you to get this game. Once you put a little bit of effort in and learn how to properly take a corner in this game, it's incredibly rewarding and offers a unique flavor of futuristic Racer. This isn't just a Wipeout clone. The physics are an entirely unique beast that is much more momentum based than other titles in the genre. This focus on momentum is only further complimented by several tracks being on other planets or in space altogether. As gravity changes between locations, it's quite challenging getting your mind around where to angle your craft in order to most effectively get where you want to go. The game is great and I keep coming back to it even after I beat it completely. Can't recommend it enough.

One key feature is missing for me

This would be one of my favorite games, if you could host a multiplayer session and fill up the races with AI racers. But alas, you can't. You can either go splitscreen or host a multiplayer game with human drivers only - so no dice if you just want to have fun with a couple of friends instead of random others. If that is not a must-have feature for you, I can definitely recommend this game. It looks slick (okay, it's very flashy und future-y, just look at the screenshots and see if you like the style). It's blazingly fast and performs great on my box. No hickups, no stutter, everything is buttery smooth. I do have difficulties getting a feel for the current speed, though, I have to look at the speedometer for that, especially since acceleration and braking are absurdly fast. It doesn't matter as much as you might think, though, because the idea is to go full throttle almost all the time and just add boost to go even faster :P

Great Game

I played this game over 300 hours and enjoy every minute (Steam Version) I purchased this do to I don't like any form of DRM. also the gog version of the game supports VR create a shortcut and add the option -vr in the target field. If you like Wipeout or F-Zero this game is for you.

Scratches that Wipeout itch.

Lots of speed and fun to be had with this racer. I agree with other reviews about this game needing AI players in multiplayer mode, but everything else seems pretty solid. I haven't found a way to remap the keys and I don't think it is possible which is completely ridiculous in this day and age, but whatever. Graphics are rich and colorful and I am getting great framerates even on my six year old gaming laptop at 1280x720 with "Epic" detail on almost everything. So if you have an older system don't let the pretty graphics scare you away as it will probably run just fine, but at lower resolutions. The AI players in single player modes can be very challenging so this game is not too easy which is a good thing in my book. The way the vehicles handle seems very solid and tight. You can upgrade your vehicle as you earn cash from races and at level 3 you can start adding power-ups. Definitely a new favorite futuristic racer for me along with some of the classics I love like DethKarz and Fatal Inertia.
