The story of Raji: An Ancient Epic begins with the start of a new war between the demons and the gods. Seeking to avenge their defeat in the last great war from a thousand years ago, the demons have challenged the gods who humiliated them and have invaded the human realm, threatening them with extinction.
Thinking that their enemies had been utterly defeated in the last great war, a thousand years ago, the humans had fallen into a false sense of security, forgetting the ways of alchemy, while enjoying the peace. Unable to defend themselves, cities and fortresses fell, leaving the humans at the mercy of the demons.
Amidst the chaos, as cities and fortresses fell, and as young children were abducted from their homes, a young girl named Raji is chosen by the gods to be the sole defender of the human race.
A Story of Siblings
Experience a story of siblings. Raji and Golu are sister and brother who have been separated by the attacking demonic hordes and now find themselves in the middle of the great war.
Raji has taken it upon herself to find her brother and put an end to this reckless war. However, this can only happen if she manages to break down the might and stratagem devised by the great lord of demons, Mahabalasura.
Stunning Artwork
Inspired by Indian mythologies such as Mahabharata and Ramayana, and by the medieval architecture of Rajasthan, Raji: An Ancient Epic brings a refreshing new style to the action-adventure scene!
Every corner of the game’s environment is drawn in the Pahari art style and combines hand-painted textures, rendered in 3D giving the Raji: An Ancient Epic a stunning and unique visual quality rarely seen in games.
Tactical Combat
Diverse weapons and powers, gifted to Raji by the gods, are at your disposal. Mastering them all will be vital to your success as the demonic hordes will skillfully adapt to each and every situation; while the Trishul may be perfect for one battle, the mighty Sharanga bow may be needed for the next.

Agree with other reviewers that the art, mythology and story really set this game apart as authentic.
The artwork and animation are top notch. I think the combat is well made and responsive, and adds some welcome variety as the game progresses. I disagree that it needs improvement, but I used mouse and keyboard so it may be different with a game controller. Prince of Persia SoT is an apt comparison- if you liked that game, you will find much familiar here.
My major complaint that it ends so soon, and story-wise ends abruptly! I can only guess that the developers are working on concluding this in the sequel. Good buy!
I enjoyed the game overall, an interesting dive into Indian culture.
However, it felt kinda short and the combat was a bit repetitive and feels like it needed more refinement. The final boss was meh and can be cheesed too easily. I also encountered a bug twice that softlocked me after finishing combat and I had to reload the game to resume.
Finally, for some reason after finishing the game, I never got the final achievement. Pretty disappointed on that one.
Music - epic, visuals - god, story - short, controls - poor.
I'm not using WASD, and remapped controls and after I've launched game to continue one of keys unmapped. It was very unpleasant considering action mapped to it. In puzzle solving my keys partialy ignored and that non-interesting process become anoying.
Camera movement is not under player control, so you run (well walk) forward and start to turn left or right depending on camera rotation in this waypoint. Long and meaningless marches which adds nothing to game.
Combat system... could be better explained. I've got undestanding of why Raji reacts in such weird manner only at the end of the game and all combat become super-easy and so borring.
Otherwise good, solid game. But too short.
I haven't played to much so far but the level of polish and quality really made me want to talk about the game especially since others seems to be talking smack with lets say.....unfaithful/ biased argruements. The story and deep dive into Hindu Mythology really is something unqiue and refreshing, the gameplay is super responsive and ther is alot of depth to the top down action combat the game has, the fact that this is Nodding Heads Games First outing is really Impressive. Even cooler that it's mainly a female team working on the game, it makes the story and main charater feel instantly more interesting then alot of the normal boring self insert guff we get in games today, When I finish the game I'll update this review but so far this is fantastic and shouldn't go unlooked
I really like this game, it told a good story, and the combat is playful and some challenge, thought sometimes hard to thought a combo out (rolling spinning), but still a high qualified game. It seems give 4 weapon, I had not tried them all for now, but I feel comfortable with them all, even I'm a ranged player in every games.
