A strange disease is spreading on space stations. Crew members are getting sick with an unknown fever, and the rifts are opening the way to demons from Bramphatur to our dimension. Don't bury yourself under crossfire.

It took me 190 ingame hours to learn there was a "skip turn" button, as I have the competence level of a journalist at IGN. Nonetheless, this is a fantastic game.
It's top-down turn-based single-player Tarkov. In space. With demons.
After 600 hours in Tarkov and almost 300 in Quasimorph, I can confidently say that these games are not fun. They are hardcore extraction shooters where you lose all your gear and loot when you die. Which is *all the time*. Does that sound fun to you?
But I don't play this game to have fun; I play them to feel like a badass space merc massacring corporate security details who tried to stop me from murdering all of their employees for trying to unionize...and then using the profits to gear up again and take another mission from the now-desperate corp to go steal trade secrets from the guys who hired me in the first place.
There is great progression, gear variety, crafting system, and perks to find. Only a couple of the stock classes are good, but you'll unlock the ability to edit class skills and make one that matches your playstyle.
But my favorite part about games like this is that every death is a learning experience. You died because you screwed up. Learn one more thing not to do, die again the same stupid way because you forgot, and eventually get it through your head and become a better player.
For the record: they did recently add difficulty adjustment options, so you can ease up on a lot of the game's brutality...but I don't recommend that.
In conclusion: play Quasimorph. Die. Cry. Send another clone in to die again. ??? Profit.

A fun carnage shooter - Feels doom/halo-ish in an 8-bit way, with some Into The Breach and XCOM tossed in. You've got some management aspects in between missions that provide just enough depth to keep things moving. During missions it's always you alone with your bag of tricks versus a host of enemies for one reason or another. Enemies are various, numerous, and lethal. Luckily, so are your methods for dispatching them. Ammunition doesn't grow on trees though, so expect the sticks and the bats if it comes down to it.
At first I wasn't sure about this one, it felt a bit confusing and too hard, but then I started to understand how the enemy turns, running vs. walking vs sneaking, metabolism, crafting items and classes all correlate and it got really good. Plan your approach, stick to your strengths and watch those corners!
This is a hard game, for sure - You can easily get put on ice in a heartbeat - threats from all sides come at you fast and plenty and sometimes it's just overwhelming. It's not always straightforward how the fight's will develop, and often you will have to improvise, sometimes in the extreme!
Narrative seems cool and cohesive. I've played some hours into the game and I still get put down on the second story mission like it's nobody's business. Looking forward to getting some better gear. All in all, a top-tier arcade shooter. Thanks for the recommendation, Seth
Version at the moment : 0.8.5.1
So I have not played much of it yet : but the feeling so far is, it feels like a rare delicacy.
I rarely find the pixel graphics of last 20 years astounding: as someone who pixels,
I can just see so many good games where the graphics are good, but not incredible.
There has been Owlboy and Tower 57, where I felt here we get some really delightful colour schemes, some real artists with design skills... But anyhow I digress. Quasimorph is a turn-based game.
The other thing so far that makes me give it 5/5: is the gameplay on surface missions.
I died like 5 times on the second mission, but it was so much fun, I always deleted my save file,
and started everything from start : and learning new things along each sweep.
The ailment-treatment system in itself is quite original and fun. I kept looking for things to patch my bruised, burned, infected body bits. And finally seeing all the red squares on the health screen gone, felt like a win in a boss battle.
And I'm not one to enjoy roguelikes : the proper ones anyway : permadeaths and the like. I play Caves of Qud (another gem of a game) with the mode that autosaves and with no permadeath... So I was a bit unsure whether I should try Quasimorph.
But the clones mechanics are pretty cool : if only your loot is gone, and maybe some of the time and effort spent teaches some new trick : I'm totally on board.
Lastly to mention : it reminds me a little bit of the old Laser Squad and the original X-COM : and I loved them both. Then Quasimorph adds to that the factions, and the ability to choose which one to support, and the whole planet to moon to base - travel... It starts to feel like a concept that should've been invented 20 years ago already. It seems to build on the old classics, and throws a few things of its own in the mix.
May not be everyone's cup of tea, but... if you liked Laser Squad, and still want to see someone pull off some epic 16-bit pixel graphics tricks, can recommend.
Your freshly printed clone just ran down a corridor and stabbed an unpaid intern of a rival corporation wearing nothing but a balaclava. A demon emerges from the husk of the intern, grasping crystal dagger to disembowel you with. You suffer from numerous cut wounds, but lack bandages.
Your CO declines extraction as the mission is unfinished. Your PMC cannot suffer a loss of reputation. But it can and will suffer a loss in time to reprint you.
You pick up the shredded remains of the intern's clothing to bandage your wounds with. You find a discarded pack of cigarettes a few feet away from the carnage.
You light it, inhale the aromatic smoke. You can't care less about carcinogens. You won't live that long anyway. Or maybe you will but new lungs are cheap when there are plenty of donors on this station.
You wait a couple minutes for the bandages to take effect. Then you move on. There's no mercy for the wicked. And money don't grow on trees.
You got bills to pay and mouths to feed, there ain't nothing in this world for free.
You can't slow down, you can't hold back even though you wish you could.
There ain't no rest for the wicked, til' you close your eyes for good.
