Bester Shooter ever
No Soundtrack? Yeah for sure. It´s because the soundtrack was on the CD of the game - No CD, no Soundtrack. Thats just simple... Use darkplaces to get a great graphical experience!

Worth playing, worth buying
The package contains Quake and two of its expansions. First the bad: - Although the package contains the OST for the game and its expansions, you need a little tinkering in order to hear the music ingame. I have found the solution for this here, in the gog forums, so you don't have to go far for the solution. - Just like any earlier id game, the plot and story are not the strongest part of Quake. Same for the expansions. Quake: - Once you are able to start the game with music, you are rewarded with a really memorable gaming experience. - The level design, the monsters and the soundtrack creates a really unique atmosphere. - The flow of the game is also excellent, I have never got stuck looking for switches or keys. - The single player mode is a bit short. Scourge of Armagon: - More action oriented than Quake, this is also reflected by the soundtrack. - It is a bit annoying that in contrast with Quake, the tracks of the OST are noticable shorter - This destroys the ambience a little bit, and while the new monsters and weapons are OK, it is quite possible that you complete the game and after a week you won't remember much from it. Dissolution of Eternity: - Also more action oriented, has the same problem with the length of the tracks and again, the atmosphere of the game suffers. . Maybe it is just me, but I don't like when there are too many platform elements in an FPS (i.e. jump over a river of lava from one platform to the next) and some levels were close to the edge in this expansion. - The new maps are really good. The new weapons are not really new weapons rather than alternative firing modes to the existing, but still works great, just as the new enemies. - If I have to rank, this expansion is more enjoyable than the other, but the best is still the original Quake ( (mainly because I liked its ambient soundtrack - if your musical taste is different, your oppinion may also differ !).

Timeless
On the surface there's not much to analyse. Scary monsters and spooky castles. You sit down with it to mess about for twenty minutes and mysteriously an hour (or two) has passed. The Quake 1.5 remaster is very tasteful and worth trying but in it's vanilla form it still kicks interdimensional ass.

Still amazing
The original Quake was an amazing shooter. And still is. Because despite being over two decades old, the gameplay is blazingly fast, the guns are brutal, and the level design is clever and entertaining. The mission packs are not as hot as the main game, but it's nice that they are included. Overall, the game is still a ton of fun and worth every cent in 2020. And probably in 2120 too. Pros: + Menacing atmosphere + Even more sinister soundtrack. It was my first time hearing this, since the version that I had when I was younger, was acquired through VERY legal means, so it didn't have it. The point is, that it is very unique even to this day and really sells the idea of being trapped in a hellish alternate dimension. + Sound design. Enemies sound hideous and you can easily identify each of them by the noise they are making. + Weapons are excellent. The thumping of the super nailgun will make your testicles grow twice in size. Even if you are a lady. Cons: - Getting the soundtrack working is a hassle. - Not that many levels and they are all quite short - Only 2 bosses and they are puzzles
