Description
Project Zomboid is an open-ended zombie-infested sandbox. It asks one simple question – how will you die?

In the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, survivors must loot houses, build defences and do their utmost to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming – their continued survival relies on their own cunning, luck and ability to evade a relentless horde.

Already available features:

- Hardcore Sandbox Zombie Survival Game with a focus on realistic survival.
- Online multiplayer survival with persistent player run servers.
- Local 4 player split-screen co-op
- Hundreds of zombies with swarm mechanics and in-depth visual and hearing systems.
- Full line of sight system and real-time lighting, sound and visibility mechanics.
- Hide in the shadows, keep quiet and keep the lights off at night, or at least hang - sheets over the windows.
- Vast and growing map (loosely based on a real world location) for you to explore, loot and set up your fortress. Check out Blindcoder’s map project: http://pzmap.crash-override.net/
- Use tools and items to craft weapons, barricade and cook. You can even build zombie proof forts by chopping trees, sawing wood and scavenging supplies.
- Deal with depression, boredom, hunger, thirst and illness while trying to survive.
- Day turns to night. The electricity falters. Hordes migrate. Winter draws in. Nature gradually starts to take over.
- Farming, trapping, fishing, carpentry, cooking, trapping, character customization, skills and perks that develop based on what you do in-game.
- Proper zombies that don’t run. (Unless you tell them to in the sandbox menu).
- A ton of amazing atmospheric music tracks by the prodigy that is Zach Beever.
- Imaginative Challenge scenarios and instant action ‘Last Stand’ mode, on top of regular Sandbox and Survival.
- Full, open and powerful Lua modding support.
- Xbox Controller Gamepad support on Windows. [Others pads can be set up manually. Gamepad support not currently available on Mac]

Planned Features:

- The return of our PZ Stories mode that also serves as first ever tutorial actively trying to kill you at every turn. Kate and Baldspot return!
- In-depth and varied NPC encounters driven in a persistent world, powered by a metagame system that turns each play-through into your very own zombie survival movie with emergent narrative gameplay.
- Constant expansion of the countryside and cities around Muldraugh and West Point.

No update in over a year

They disabled multiplayer it's been over a year that they also claim to work on fixing multiplayer for the new animations/modelling systems stuff....moderators are abusive and the fan community bashes on people who are suspicious like me about this bad development and who have legitimate questions, then moderators join in with the fanbase and end up locking threads on steam and banning the poster for wondering what this incompetence is about...All this ban stuff is happening constantly on steam thankfully this isn't steam, It was a good game but people need to move on...These people are clueless about the direction of this game!

Devs clearly don't care about users

This game has been in development for over a decade, and in order to keep their cash cow giving milk, the devs only care about acquiring new users, and as many of those as possible. The game is utterly unoptimized because they'd rather pocket more money with flashy graphics for new users than fix problems for people who have already given them their money years ago. Originally the devs swore they always kept people with lower end systems in mind, but they now gaily tack new bells and whistles onto the game which increase the necessary specs without bothering to fix old bugs, balance systems, or optimize the game to run at anything but a stuttering crawl on lower-end machines. To make matters worse, the game here on GOG is effectively crippled. We've paid the same thing they did on Steam, but we get no access to mods (including the ones put out by the devs), can't cross-play with Steam players, and can't easily upgrade our versions without re-downloading the game all over again every few months. It shows a complete disregard for GOG users to the point of the devs recommending you only buy the game on Steam -- but they're still happy to pocket your money and walk away whistling if you buy it here. One of the best

Project Zomboid is a hyper realistic zombie survival game. THE hyper realistic zombie survival game. It is very detailed, from picking shrapnel out of your own arm, to replacing your bandages, to being cold or hot depending on your clothing, to realistic sightlines. Zomboid has been in development for a LONG time and unlike many other long standing early access games has grown massively over time. Growing from a small simple tutorial story into a very detailed expansive game. While at one point it was essentially killed by piracy it has managed to bounce back in a major way. I can't wait to see how much further it grows

Great game, poor modding support for GOG

This game is really good but if you happen to buy the GOG version without realizing there's better mod support on Steam, (i only realized nearly a year later that it had Workshop support, so I can't get a refund...) you may not get nearly as much mileage out of it. At the very least, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of the vanilla game so i'd say it's still worth a purchase if you just want to play the game as intended. It just sucks that poor mod support is the caveat necessary for you to have a DRM free version of this game.

Sudden forced "agreement"

Opened the game up one day, after a long time, and was greeted with a mandatory license agreement. The only options are to agree or to quit. Agreeing involves agreeing that you do NOT own your game (why else would be buy on GoG?), and that the agreement can be unilaterally changed, with or without your permission. Your only option would be to never play the game again. If this appeared when I bought the game, then I would have the chance to refund. Now, years after purchase, I don't agree. I don't agree that I don't own this game I bought. I don't agree that they can add whatever riders they want in the future. I plan to play the game anyway. I plan to press "Agree", not because I agree, but because it is the only button that makes my property (yes, it is my property, as I do NOT agree that it is a license) work as advertised. Do with this information as you will, The Indie Stone.
