Project Warlock

Game was everything I hoped it would be and more. Level structure felt right out of Doom and the like. The graphics were amazing. The variety of monsters and weapons were great. I rarely play FPS games anymore, they all seem like Call of Battlefied Royale to me, but this captured nostalgia but was brand new. I really enjoyed it. Reason a 4/5 instead of 5 star, some graphical glitches when to many bullet holes appear, and I fell through the map once. Cant wait to see what comes from this Developer and his team in the future.

I love the art style of the game and the options of custom and pre made shaders are a very cool addition. My only two minor complaints are that the game only goes up to 1080p so I need to play windowed so it doesn't blur the game, and that the 60fps lock feels rather slow for a shooter. Got to the third part of the medieval world and looking forward to smashing some more bats with my knife!

I was on the fence about getting this game. Project Warlock looked fantastic and the reviews on Youtube and several blog sites were positive. The reviews here however made me question whether it was indeed worth the money. After some consideration I decided to pull the trigger, and so far I must say that I do not regret buying it. It reminds me of the old shooters, where you just got into the flow quite easily. The sound, the gameplay and the graphics all kind of scratch the itch. I do think however, that if you are a hardcore fan of genre (i.e. old skool fps) that this might not be for you. I used to be a hardcore gamer, but not anymore and I have noticed that the truly punishing rogue likes do not appeal to me as much. Project Warlock for me strikes the right balance. Additionally I barely played the games that Project Warlock takes inspiration from, so I feel that hardcore fans might see some more flaws that I can see. The only thing I am worried about is the playtime. I have yet to beat the game, but from what I gather it supposed to be around 5-6 hours, which I think is on the short side. However, I am truly enjoying it at the moment, and that is what counts!

I bought the game, because I was impressed by the backstory of the developer and got interesteted, after seeing some reviews. I can say that I'm completely satisfied by this game. It is as if one took this game out of the 90's, polished it and sells it now. A nice oldschool shooter experience, that gets completed by several little perks like the skill system or the possibity to activate "pixelisation", to let it look like it really comes from the 90's. Everyone who liked Hexen, Doom and Blood, should at least look at this game.

There isn't much to be said about Project Warlock that hasn't already been said, except they really should of built this in an idtech engine or the build engine just for optimization sakes. -Now technical stuff - I a had a problem for the first few days where I had to reinstall the game everytime I booted it up. But even with framerate drops being my only negative, it was the most enjoyable game experience I have had since the late 90's. The main menu and first bossfight tracks are the best songs I heard in a game since Quake2. Well done ! So as a 90's fps veteran, I highly suggest buying this game. Also are we really need a map editor and modding tools.
