Description
Due to severe overpopulation, the planet Earth’s diameter is increasing with the growth of towering mega-cities, each inhabited by millions of humans. Buildings are growing ever-upwards, interconnected with a thick web of roads, walkways and service channels. In these giant human hives, only the affluent may feel the rays of the sun and breathe the cleaner air. Your team has been selected to go down and investigate problems at the Real Meat factory, in which all of the equipment has started to simultaneously malfunction. Technicians sent to repair the machinery have gone missing without explanation. The UPA's (Urban Protection Agency) orders are clear: prepare for the descent.

Project Eden is a 3D shooter with an emphasis on puzzle-solving. You'll lead a squad consisting of four UPA agents: Carter Dorlan, Andre Herderman, Minoko Molensky, and Amber Torrelson. Each operative has his or her own special ability that you'll need to master in order to progress. As Carter, use your knack for interrogation and nimble fingers to gain information and unlock doors. When you need something fixed and in a hurry, Andre is your man. Computer terminals are no match for Minoko's hacking talents. Last but not least, Amber can traverse hazardous environments with nary a scratch and she'll be your weapons expert. Brave the lowest strata and prepare to go through hell in Project Eden! If you're looking for some gritty cyberpunk-ish storytelling, challenging puzzles, and original gameplay (with optional drop-in, drop-out co-op), this is your game!

  • Lead 4 specialists in squad-based play into an abyss of vast caverns, snake-like tunnels, and derelict slums filled with cultists, gang-bangers, and mutants.
  • Morphing enemies will challenge you constantly, mutating as soon as you learn how to destroy them.
  • Descend into the darkness alone or with up to 3 friends in co-op multiplayer.

Ahead of its time

A clean Biopunk gem that focus on investigation, puzzles and battle strategy, with an original plot that is surprisingly prophetic about many modern issues. It's a jurney in a lost abandoned world, descending into the core of civilization, facing the horror that hides beneath, and losing yourself in the way. The game mechanics may be difficult to understand at first, but you get used to it after the first level, that act as a tutorial. Characters are well written, and the lore is interesting and original. A good level design makes it entertaining for the most part, but there is the possibility of getting lost in the late part of the game, as it becomes more intricate to navigate. There is something that is missing in the release. This game is labeled as an Action - TPP. The truth is that this is mostly an Horror game, with one of the creepiest Soundtrack ever recorded for a game. The more you descend, the noisier and disturbing it became, and you start to wonder what kind of bloodthirst creature is cawling in the rusted metal tubes over the ceiling, and when it will decide to came out and attack you.

Horror games too scary?

Basically a survival horror game for people too scared to play survival horror games. Instead of controlling a lone gunmen, you control a small party of four which you can freely switch between (like in Summoner 2). While a third person shooter, I’ve never known a shooter that allows active party switching. Thank god it doesn’t have the inventory management crap most party RPGs have. The game is more of a puzzler and shooter than a platformer that the Core team is famous for. While this reduces the gameplay to be linear, the puzzles are fairly challenging but intuitive such that you won’t need a game guide for most of it. Yep, no BS key fetching quests here (okay maybe one). While the opening of the game is a cake walk, latter you will find it critical how you position your party members as they will shot on sight but won’t flee. And even if you do mess up, there is no gameover screen here, your hero’s are discretely transported back to your spawn point before they die. However this doesn’t keep the game from being any more scary as it warns regen points and power will get less reliable as you go deeper. The premise is fairly simple as cyberpunk games go. Something is going bump in the basement and you are charged with figuring out what it is. You won’t be exploring high tech neon landscapes, but rather you will be doing urban exploration into the ancient yet familiar city scape. While the graphics are dated, the ambient sounds are superb, just like you are hearing a rail car passing several stories above you. Add this to the dark surroundings being pierced by your squads’ flash lights, you will feel like you going down into someone’s basement.

Awesome game

The game's very atmospheric, a lot of puzzles that make sense - they just make you push a lot of buttons and see what they do before you will have your "I get it..." moments. It's a slow game with some shooting action in-between. It's very well done, graphics are very clean and nice to look at. Only flaws are underdeveloped characters whom you only grow attached through the gameplay itself and roles they play in solving puzzles. It does require you to pay attention to your surroundings and thinking. Puzzles aren't hard, if you pay attention you won't get stuck. It's a very underrated game and some review on metacritic must have been written by lazy impatient children who cannot appreciate taking your time and rewarding yourself with figuring stuff out.

Underrated entry from Core Design

Underrated game. The team behind Tomb Raider 1&2 are responsible for this title and evolve some of the exploration and puzzle-solving aspects of the original Tomb Raider games, whilst incorporating team-based game-play, with or without CO-OP. Project Eden makes wonderful use of atmospheric environments and ambient sounds, a staple for Core Design. Some of the levels later on can get tedious, repetitive, and really require some patience. Otherwise, Project Eden is worth playing, especially if you are a fan of this kind of genre or the classic Tomb Raider series. I'd imagine if you can get the game running via it's online multiplayer option, that would be the ideal way to play and if you can find other players.

Welcome back 2001!

I can't believe how good is this! The gameplay is exactly the same as Tomb Raider III, but with a team of 4 agents, in a futuristic mega-city! (It's from the creators of the original Tomb Raider, so forget those " it's the same as lost vikings" reviews.) You need to solve puzzles with the help of these 4 people, often in the same time. You can switch anytime between them. And you can use gadgets as flycam, hoover, turret, etc. You can switch to FPS view too! Cultists and monsters will attack you, and you can fight back with guns, grenades, and missiles. And the team just go deeper and deeper with every level... to the Hell? And now some technical infos: The game running great on Windows 10, in native 1080p, 60FPS. If you want to play in widescreen, just choose your widescreen resolution, but leave the aspect ratio on 4:3! (Otherwise it looks stretchy!) The intro videos are often not compatible with modern systems, it plays in two windows: EDEN FMW Window, and Activemovie Window. Click on Eden FMW Window on your taskbar, and press esc, then it will jump to the next intro, (do the same again,) then into the main menu. OR In the game's files, go into the movies folder, rename Logos.mpg into Logos1.mpg. In this case, the game will not open the intro videos anymore, it's open directly with the main menu. I just recommend this beautiful game, because it really is a game, not just cashgrab!
