Description
What happened to the humans? Set in a post-apocalyptic world strewn with cast-off pieces of machinery, Primordia tells the story of Horatio Nullbuilt, who finds his peaceful existence threatened when a rogue robot steals his power core—the sole source of energy fueling his ship and keeping him alive. To recover it, the robot and his companion, Crispin, must leave behind their idyllic home for Metropol, the city of glass and light. Their quest to reclaim what has been taken away will lead Horatio to unexpected discoveries about his origins—and a new understanding of the humans who walked the earth before him.

  • Puzzles that emphasize logical thinking and exploration rather than trial and error or pointless backtracking.
  • A streamlined interface, player-friendly design combined with the challenge and depth of the classics.
  • Features over fifty hand-drawn rooms to explore, dozens of distinctive characters to meet, and gorgeous painted cutscenes to soak in.

Adventure Gaming done Right

As adventure games go, Primordia gets it right. Puzzles are for the most part intuitive and supplemented by as many hints as you could possibly need, so you'll never get bogged down trying to find that one solution the developer envisioned. Story is deep without being pretentious and overall very well written. Voice acting is well done, characters are for the most part well written and fleshed out (though there are some stereotypes such as Crispin the comic relief sidekick). The overall universe is no different, with rather detailed and immersive lore. Vague, I know, but I do have to keep things spoiler-free. All in all, a must-buy for adventure game fans and a good starting point for newcomers to the genre. Well worth the $10 price of admission.

An Unexpected Gem

I don't review games on here often, but this one just demands praise. I ignored this game for so long and only finally bought it because the sale price was so low and I was in a mood to waste money, but I'm so glad that I did. I'm absolutely addicted to it and I'm generally very finicky and easily bored with games of this type. The only place where Primordia could lose points is I think they let themselves get a little bit carried away with the retro graphics thing. I'm not the kind of person who demands cutting edge graphics (I still often play my old NES or PS1 games), but everything about this game is so beautiful that it's a real shame it's so, well, pixellated. The *only* way I found to play it and have it look half-decent is in windowed mode in the world's tiniest box on my huge monitor. Change any of the graphics settings and it looks like you're playing a cellphone game blown up on a 46" TV. They just went slightly too far with it. But the humour, story, characters, gameplay and art are so outstanding that I'm giving it five stars, despite the graphics. If you still haven't bought it, do so. You won't regret it.

the best of Wadjet Eye so far

The guys at Wadjet Eye have been providing us with some great adventure games for quite some time, now, more than proving all the people saying the point-n-click adventure game is dead wrong. Heck, after seeing the trailer to Tim Schafer's/Double Fine's Broken Age I have to admit I got a little disappointed, since that was definitely not what I had in mind when it came to "revive the adventure game genre". But these guys at Wadjet Eye know what they're doing. Superb art design, amazing character and background animation and art, logical but not overtly simple puzzles, well written story and funny dialogue, pretty good voice acting, characters you definitely care about, all within a pretty decent play time throughout all their titles. But this, my friends, Primordia, is arguably their best title to date, the pinnacle of their previous efforts all joined together, and it shows they did come a long way since the great Gemini Rue. Any adventure gamer should do themselves a favor and pick this one up.

Great athmosphere that sucked me in.

Great athmosphere - music, visuals and characters all contribute to it. Good story which I thought had a really nice sense of progression to it, both thematically and in intensity. I'm not much of a puzzle guy and had to go to walkthroughs a few times. Some engineering knowledge will help you out since the puzzles often are technical in nature, which I thought was really nice, suited the world very well.

How awesome can you get?

Despite the few pixels they used, the graphics in this game are a wonder to behold. The music is well suited to the palette they used. The story does need some more interpretation on the gamer's part to really get the most of it (amazingly deep), but that just adds to the replay value. The voice acting is, perhaps, the weakest element. There's... little else to say, really. This game is made of awesome, period. PLAY THIS GAME, or Crispin gets it!
