Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions and over 100 gameplay hours in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered Pharaoh.
Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A Pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.
Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.
The "Campaign" mode teaches you the game basics while allowing you to experience a unique story in the heart of Ancient Egypt and explore all aspects of life in a thriving city.
You have everything at your disposal to build an entire city and manage all its fundamental elements to ensure it flourishes: the economy, internal and external trade, culture, health, agriculture, education, etc. To help you monitor your progress, various indicators show you the overall well-being of your city and its residents.

A decent attempt at recreating a wonderful classic. Unfortunately, all good changes are optional (good thinking here!), but all the bad changes are forced on you. The art style is...an acquired taste, let's call it. The changes to the military and certain other game mechanics is dreadful. The fact that some features the original had are now missing, like the minimap or the camera rotation, is laughable. The only thing that is truly amazing is the music - propos to the developer for that.
I loved the original Pharaoh and Cleopatra (as well as Zeus and Poseidon) and this is a faithful remake with updated graphics and gameplay. Over all, it is just as engaging as the original, uses the original voices for the NPCs, and runs great. However, one of my biggest issues is taking away the debug menu. For people like myself especially who like to focus on building my city without worrying about gold, the debug menu was heaven sent. Up until recently, it could be modded back in, but the latest patch bricked the mod. The menu is something that many people across all platforms have asked for the developers to bring back into the game. Devs not listening to their audience seems to be an ongoing issue with the game. Still, if you were a fan of the original, it's worth purchasing, particularly if its on sale.
Plenty of bugs that makes the experience quite bad. Like Debt anniversary does not drag down the kinddom rating. Also, in some campaigns, quests completion does not increase your ratings. The only reason why I play it is that it allows global worker pool like emperor.
I've played tons of the original, and this is a renewed version. For the most part it's as good or better than the original. However a few details were made worse. I can't specify more since I made a few months break and can't remember my original issues just that I had them. Except for Seth no longer destroying invaders so you always HAVE to have a military, which is something that makes some missions unreasonably dificult because they were designed to be done through religion and economics and not military. Other the downsides are very much not a big deal since I forgot them all.
Whoever liked the original Pharaoh will love this one too.
