It's obvious that Pharaoh: A New Era was a labor of love by Triskell Interactive and Dotemu. I am sure there wasn't a massive demand for this title, but there are some die hard fans out there (like me) who enjoyed and appreciated this game beyond comprehension. It keeps the heart and soul of the original Pharaoh, while making just enough tweaks to improve upon a timeless classic. The nostalgia factor is high on this one, and if you liked any of the late 90s to early 2000 city-building titles, then picking up Pharaoh: A New Era is a must. My only request: please consider remastering Zeus & Poseidon!

Pharaoh: A New Era’s visuals, music, and gameplay tweaks make for a very easy-to-grasp, complex-to-master setup, and there are loads of options to soften the challenge whenever you feel like it. More than that, when you get your cities bustling with farms, markets, industry, entertainment, religion, and monuments the whole thing is a busy spectacle of beauty. Some archaic bits can make things difficult, and this isn’t my favorite city builder I’ve played, but it’s still an excellent spin on a classic.

Pharaoh is a throwback in the best possible way. Harkening back to a time when city management games were actually manageable, Pharaoh will still present players with a good amount of challenge. There is a ton of game here to enjoy, and it continuously pushes the player to find unique ways to solve interesting problems. It is worth mentioning that there may be a gators hiding in the Nile right out of the gate upon release, but one can expect those to be cleaned up in short order; there is nothing here that should stop prospective players from starting their own Egyptian empires. Fun and addictive.

I'm sorry, but i absolutely hate the art style. Ugly game, ugly mobile level UI. There is a negative amount of reasons why i would play this over the original.

a wasted opportunity
With such a great fan-base lingering for a pharao remake for years now, the devs had a great chance to make something really good. I waited for 2 years for this game but I am a bit disappointed. Graphics are fine for me, voice acting is also very nice and nostalgic feelings are always there while playing the game. Music is cool too. BUT. User interface is uncreative - all of it from the buiilding menu to the overlays and so on. Could have been better. The game feels unfinished and unpolished, like the developers did not enough dive into the "soul" of the old games. Also its very buggy, had a lot of issues in the first 3 hours. Menus look shitty, you cant turn off pop-ups, no mini-map or map rotation. Also liked to have seen some additions like a planning / blueprint mode or more options for beautification (there are some options, but there definetly could be way more). Also some animations are as weird as in the base game, just with better sprites for the people doing the weird animations (e.G. the stone guys building monuments). Like that the shitty combat of the original was targeted, dont like the way they did it, now wild animals f*** up your city and you dont have an army to slay them. It feels like all the energy went into the artwork and music (aspects which the player base is divided about) and not in really remaking / improving the old game. Wasted opportunities on every corner here for me, very sad about that. Hope they listen to the Community and fix some stuff.

It is a okay
Good: - Graphics looks good, basically same thing as original but in hi-res, that's an improvement I was expecting. - New music is great Bad: - GUI is terrible compared to original which was stylized for ancient Egypt, here you got almost generic windows with generic font. - Minor bugs here and there - Lingering sense that game is not polished. Hoping for patches soon. I will continue to play it of course.

no no no its not a good remake!
Buy the old one, the new one looks like a mobile game and did makes no fun. plus you have plenty of crashes. the old one + wide screen patch (find on google) and you will be happy!
