Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions and over 100 gameplay hours in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered Pharaoh.
Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.

Dissapointed cause was really looking forward to this "remake"
Since they announce?d this remake i was happy and waiting for the release. At the end...it didnt work. Whats ok:
1. Graphics - i like them
2. Works fast, fast loading's etc.
Whats not ok:
1. GUI - you just cant use it correctly. To many clicks for basic things and messages that are shown on almost full screen. Feels like it was prepared for mobile phones and suddenly somebody decided to release this as PC game but left the mobile menu
2. No click sound in menu - you don't feel what You are clicking
3. Icon graphics are ugly - original were perfect.
4. Music is ok but its not the original one...its creates no nostalgia.
5. BUGS! C'mon...still?
I refund this after an hour of playing. And what i can do now? Start the original one...again and again!
I was very excited about this as it is one of my all time favs - loaded the game up, and found that it looked exactly the same as the (patched) original.
I was then so sad to see that great features in the original have actually been removed rather than remastered.
Opportunity wasted - Refund requested.
Live and learn (again)
So many missing features: mini-map, map rotation. military combat, many other features missing that made the original so great. The graphics are acceptable but not that good, the UI is pretty bad and clunky. I was really excited for this this game since I so love the original. Very disappointed.
Pharaoh in it's original form was a micro-management wonder. It's clunky to run on modern machines so I was very much looking forward to this version. In gameplay it runs much the same, the core of the city management seem to run well in the background and much like the original. I also found the encyclopedia and tutorials an appropriate update for a modern player.
Sadly, that's where the good news ends. Here's a list of a few things that actively make the gameplay worse than the original.
CAMERA CONTROLS - You can't rotate the camera around the map, as such you lose a lot of building space.
OVERSEER INFORMATION - The redesign of the overseer panels are far worse than the originals giving you less information than you actually need with no tooltips to make up for it. Most notably what how difficult it is to work out how many unemployed you have in the city. Is it this symbol? No idea, let's hover over...oh, there's no tool-tip...well let's hope it it. Most of the other overseer information is sadly lacking too, which means you don't have all the information to manage the city as effectively as you could.
CAMPAIGN 'STORY' - It feels like the story, such as it was in the original has been gutted for the campaign. The introductions to each section of the campaign aren't narrated as well as the original and feel pretty basic.
To sum up, this is very pop culture as a remake. It looks pretty, but the substance is sorely lacking. That said, with a few tweaks and improvements there's an awesome game here. Though, for now, I'd recommend you go and find the original instead. This just is not as good.
